My take on what could liven things up.

Tl;dr. 1.intro 2.Weapon enhancements 3.Armour customisation 4.Better Bosses 5.New content (wall of text) 6.Space combat 7.Battle events and gamemodes 8.Rewards and recognition. 1. Intro. Okay so this is really little more than me making some suggestions for bungie. Obviously feel free to comment with your two cents and throw your own ideas in, who knows this might get read. 2. Weapon enhancement. The first thing I would like to adress is the weapon and levelling system and the FX they all seem to have in common. If you recall the game Black for ps2 all those years ago then +100 rep from me, but you will also remember that in the making of the game they went out and fired and recorded nearing on 100k rounds for each of the guns they modelled their game around to add a realism that was hard to find in video games at the time. Why now, in the age of cgi and synthesised sounds do all weapons of legendary rank and lower of each class have the exact same sound clip for every single round? Was it too hard to get one guy to make a few variants on the siu d effects for your weapons? With the multimillion dollar company Activision funding the project, surely they could afford to pay one guy $20 an hour for a few weeks to make these small details more immersive. Upgrade-wise I would like to be able to buy the exact scope I want for my sniper or the ceramic jacket upgrade for my pulse rifle in the case of it not being upgradeable through leveling of the weapon, if there is one thing that I feel the weapons need it is the ability for players to build their "perfect" weapon reguardless of level. 3.Armour Customisation. This is a hot topic all over the forums and one I want to adress here also. I like strong armour, I also like good looking armour, why do you force me (in most circumstances) to choose? Sure I don't get to look at myself most of the time but it would be nice to be able to have some pride in the way my characters look. Not just with shaders, spending some of that glimmer I seem to have little use for on trans-mogs would be nice too. Hell, add a status symbol element to it and have the last upgradeable slot in the armour set aside for the ability to transmog the piece, you simultaneously give players what they want and add another reward for training an item to the game in this way. 4. Better Bosse The only bosses that I remember enjoying were the psion flayers, and that was only if i didn't launch them off the map with solar wind or a grenade. This is because they moved around, were fast and had fast sheild regeneration which made them a challenge in way that the other bosses somply aren't. I have more fun killing stealth vandals than phogoth the untamed or bosses like him who simply absorb rounds until they die. Sure there are ther other enemies spawning around you but in a fireteam of 3 it is all too easy to rotate the roles and have two players focusing on the small fry and one player emptying clips into the boss with their LMGs. Strike bosses shouldn't be hard, cheese goes hard when left out, make them challenging, I want to be forced to find and exploit a weakness and for that weakness to change circumstantially, I want some bosses to be weak to melee and immune to explosives etc. And I don't want to be told this, I want to have to figure ot out for myself. 5. New Content. Here is that wall of text I promised, infact I will have to continue this after work, so forgive me if the flow seems a little off kilter here. I don't know what is coming up content wisebin the future DLCs and I am going to address this as the game stands now, so forgive me if any of this is already in the works or has been announced or whatever, I am only covering all bases. People want PvE in the factions, so why not give each faction 6-12 missions of their own that give them purpose, back-story and depth? Which, upon completion, guarantee the player atleast rank 1 and a few vanguard marks that they can spend at a second 'quatermaster' vendor designated to that faction? It would lend to the depth of the story as a whole and to the lore of the universe that destiny is based within, it could also be used as a diving board/launching pad for other expansion later on as the game develops over it's life span. Without serious proof of depth early on it will be difficult to develop a game that doesn't simply become linear for the most part later in it's development. This mesterious non guardian character who seems to be able to do way cooler things than any playable character is intriguing, and unfortunately remains very much a mystery even upon completion of the current main story, why can she not become a contact and source of intel/missions? A conduit for greater raids/strikes etc. A story of her own where you are given the opportunity to run around with your friends performing various guerilla warefare style missions to further hinder the vex/fallen/hive? I ubderstand this piece of the plot will likely come to be clear in an update or expansion to come, but I can't help but feel that the Awoken have some darker ambitions and that it should be explored by the player more thoroughly, perhapse as expansions are launched by sending players beyond the asteroid belt and further into the darkness. I am sure players will come up with more ideas for extra content and perhaps inspire the minds at bungie. 6. Space Combat. We spend glimmer on new and better looking jump ships... but to what purpose? They are purely status elements at the moment, the instant I saw ghat I could buy new ships I had this urge unlike any I had felt in a long time that screamed for the untethered joy of space flight and combat in zero gravity. Why did you put so m7ch effort into the main form of transport if it was never going yo be used for more than cinematics and aesthetics? My Highwater clearly has cannons on it, I would like to be able to blow something up with them. 7.Epic Battles. The idea that multiple fireteams could join forces to tackle a common enemy makes me salivate. 6 fire teams, 18 players, one cause, what could be better. Raids are great, they go for hours and are a complex riddle for a group of friends to solve together, why not open the other end of the tube and have a 1-2 hour full out war-like assault beginning with an announcement at the tower. Imagine you and your friends meandering around the tower, wondering wether to start a strike playlist or to join a skirmish in the crucible when all of a sudden a voice overannounces that fallen troops have gathered for an assault on the walls of the Last Safe City on Earth and that all available guardians have been called to defend. Your fireteam and a few others join forces and gather within the alotted time period and are transported to the battleground, their only task, to stop the enemy breaching the walls. The main challenge being that as the assault continues the enemy grows stronger, bigger and more badass as it moves around forcing the defenders to split up and spread their might in tactical formation and then gather again as each waves boss moves in for the kill. For me at least this would be the pinnacle of game play, surviving intense waves of high levelled enemies, reviving fallen friends and defending the city (or earth in space) for rewards of equal epicness. 8. The last thing I need to address is the lack of granduer when it comes to rewards, in borderlands you kill a boss, and it spews loot everywhere, half the fun is oicking it up and fighting your friends for the spoils. In Diablo III the chests throw items all over the place when you open them, and even in ratchet and clank when you bought or acquired a new weapon or upgrade there was a cinematic to acompany it. I felt a lack of emotion when I finished the game,
a 3 minute cut scene where the speaker talks to a crowd and an understated moment where the stranger exo gives you her rifle is all I got for killing 3 towering vex and their respective armies
I felt a little gipped to be honest. Make a big deal out of these things, most players will be doing this for more than one character and it should be as exciting each time we finish the game, or even individual missions, or even just stepping stones like when you first unlock your heavy weapon slot. Please bungie, reward us for our hard work defending earth and it's citizens, we deserve a little fanfare atleast. So I have rambled on and made my point in long form, i did warn you, tl;dr so no whi ing about my wall of text, I missed some things and probably got some details wrong. Definately lacked detail in areas and just plain suck at writing at length, but thankyou to anyone who reads this all or in part and thank you even more for your feedback and/or support. :D
