Problem with inactive players?

Lately I've been seeing more and more inactive players in strikes, both in the playlists and from the planet selection, and was wondering if there are any plans to curb their (lack of) effect. I know that the players can be booted but it usually takes so long the strike will be almost over. Right now I'm watching my brother play Winter's Run with the Archon about halfway down and the dude still hasn't been kicked. Are there any plans to deal with players that do not contribute or barely contribute (to avoid being kicked but still just kind of laze about) in Strikes? Personally I'd like to have a vote to kick option appear after say five minutes of inactivity or ten-fifteen minutes if the player has barely any kills/assists. Or should we the players simply create a blacklist of inactive players? No worries about false accusations as anyone can check their player history to verify. Update: the inactive player has played two strikes now either doing nothing or just enough to avoid the kick. Brother and other player completed Winter's Run and he was not kicked (0 kills/assists/deaths) thoughts?

  • Think of the reputation system on Xbox Live. What if you could rate people as a good or bad player. Bad players have a red bar across their names and good players have a green bar. So before the strike even starts you can decide whether to stay or leave.

  • Yeah I ran into this last night I only needed 1 more vanguard point so I ran the priest strike on the lvl 20 playlist (as I am lvl 32) just to make it a quick run. When I got into the game a lvl 30 took a right instead of a left so I followed him. He was just staring at a rock shooting it with the murmur for five minutes. So I got on my sparrow and kept pushing him off into the water, and smashing his face to death lol about 15 minutes later he finally started doing the strike. it was just me and him got him to the priest section then logged out as he decided to sit back again. A lvl 30 has no need to just sit their we could have ran that in 15 minutes. Instead it was an hour lol

  • There is a problem and the problem is that they are inactive. I mean the least you could do is just be my bullet monkey while I do all the work .

Why this thread doesn't have more views & replies? I think this is something really annoying and should have a solution. It is really annoying that, even if two/one people are enough to complete a strike, is not fair how some people literally sit down at the beginning or at the very boss, and do nothing. I give up and I continue doing the strike, but it is just not fair. I do agree there should be a "inactivity timer", and once a player has reached that time, the others should have the option of booting him or not (vote). What is worse, it is very often this kind of players do not contribute and still manage to get better rewards. It is well known the RNG is really -blam!-ed up, and this makes the situation even more frustrating. #Bungie, please do something. Edit: A vote to kick option with no timer might be good as well since some players just play stupid around doing nothing, and that's equally or more annoying.

  • I'd prefer a vote to kick option, since it has other uses. Case in point, I did an Omnigul run with this player, KSI Legion JR. I finished with 171 kills, another guy with 151, he with 27. Why so low? Because he spent the whole time in his sparrow, trying to run over his teammates. He succeeded in killing us 7 times by my count. Its bad enough to not contribute, but having to two man the strike AND protect ourselves from our teammate. My favorite part was when his sparrow was destroyed, and he walked back so he could summon a new one and start over. Avoiding all of KSI from now on.

  • I'm always sure to report them in the game. Maybe give Bungie something to look at and hope that I never get matched with them again.

  • I just straight up leave, because why would i go through a whole strike and work 2x harder just so a lazy a**hole can get rewards too for nothing.

Vote kicking sounds great, but could clearly be abused. That being said the best solution is to leave. Don't give idlers the satifaction of receiving rewards for no work.

    • I hate them. They stay at the beginning an sometimes they shoot the enemies in that area to increase their chances of getting a drop but don't actually fight in the strike or kill high level enemies

    • Seems simple enough to me to implement an afk timer. This also brings up another question I have though. Why the hell is it still afk...I'm not using a keyboard

    • I think a vote system would be good but, I think they would need to implement a system to stop the childish players from kicking you because they don't like you, they didn't you would just get trolled all the time.

    • This irritates the living hell out of me. I was just doing the first Lvl 8 strike last night to try and get my Invective and a Lvl 29 just played around in the beginning spawn zone killing enemies. He killed 23 of them, but got full credit for completing the strike. That is just BS. You should have to do x % of damage to the boss(es) to get credit for the strike.

      • I think the inactive timer should be less than what it is...maybe a minute or two...problem solved...yes if you continue you are on your tho but depending on difficulty they can be soloed
