20 things I would like to see added to Destiny

I'm not suggesting anything be taken away or changed. I'm only making suggestions to help this game along. EDIT 9/16/2014: Wow this thread really blew up overnight! Thanks for all the responses and additional suggestions and critiques! Even if we can get one or two things changed it's a step in the right direction for the players![/url] 1. Create custom game types. (Strikes, Crucible matches, strikes… etc.) 2. Option to invite to clan in game + in game clan support. 3. Option for off line play. 4. Voice chat with team in PVP. (you still have the option to mute players you don’t like) 5. Voice chat someway (any way) with non fire team members in the tower. (you still have the option to mute players you don’t like) 6. Voice chat someway (any way) with non fire team members in the field. (you still have the option to mute players you don’t like) 7. A less cumbersome way to join fire teams (i.e. NOT going up to orbit then coming back down) 8. Job board in the tower so people can enlist help for active missions and bounties and/or look for group members. 9. Trade with other players. 10. Optional matchmaking for heroic strike missions and every other aspect of the game that bizarrely does not have it. 11. Matchmaking for every game type. 12. Bosses have GUARANTEED loot drops commensurate with the difficulty. 13. Have guaranteed loot rewards for top performing players in the crucible; keep the randomized blues/greens for lower performing players. 14. Option to use sliders to change my armor color scheme after purchasing a shader. Or change my character hairstyle. 15. An in game map. (we can talk to the robot guy on the tower, should be able to access a map when we are planet side as well) 16. An in game codex that explains lore, tech, enemies, guardians etc. Shouldn’t have to go to a website to find out about the game. Give me a list of my grimorie cards IN-GAME NOT ON YOUR WEBSITE OR APP. 17. Option to continue a mission from where the previous mission ended and NOT go up to orbit only to come back down and retread the same ground. 18. Monthly FREE episodic content that reveals more of the story. 19. Master audio controls, sfx, music, etc. 20. Social hubs on planets. Something akin to a Guardian outpost where we can trade, resupply, have a dance party, etc.

  • Bigger maps and more players in PVP. 16 vs 16. Bigger maps would make better use of sniper.

    • I can't agree more with number 20 I though I was the only one who though of that. A suggestion for #20 is to add AI gaurdians like a hunter chasing a prey or a Titan engaging in combat and you can choose to help out. And followers like if you saved a warlock from a bunch of enemies he would follow you.

    • What's really bothering me is the repetition. I don't like replaying missions under the same circumstances but just with harder and more numerous enemies.  What I think I would like most is a larger variety of public events in conjunction with a larger map.  So what I envision for that is roaming the map (probably somewhat similar to patrol) and finding new gear, weapons, materials from places all over.   All the while fighting my way through enemies at different locations that are doing different tasks.  For instance, if there was a storage cache, armory or just a significant landmark that had history about the Destiny universe, there would likely be some alien race already inhabiting that area or protecting it. So I would have to fight through it and retrieve something for people at the Tower.  Additionally, I would want the story to be much more difficult. So I would be spending most of my time doing all the little missions, training in the crucible, finding useful legendary weapons in the world. Eventually I would become strong enough, or have the right items to confront the next part of the story.  Truly, I wouldn't have minded if the entire first game was only on earth (but a MUCH larger and more open earth).  While even with the open world exploration setup there would be significant repetition because there are only so many sorts of problems that would need to be solved....  - get in, get out, retrieval or kill - stealthy retrieval or kill - survive until event / defend objective  - escort VIP  - escape (possibly because of failure and capture on another mission)  Those would be fun if they were included, but that would still be repetitive after a while. What would make it fun would be continual addition and upgrade of AI behavior strategies (both specific to the objective and background of the alien race it's attached to) and creatures.  So though you might have the same objective to retrieve some item (also continually updated so you're not always getting... Data pads with pre golden age history on them), what would make it different each time is now there is an entirely new kind of enemy to fight that has a different weakness. Something you've never seen before and you have to solve. New weapons being used by the enemy (not necessarily an over powered weapon, but simply something more effective against you considering your play style and the objective). For instance, if you are the kind of person that sits in the shadows and picks of enemies, the game would recognize that and the AI behaviors would be adjusted to compensate so there would be fewer enemies, but they are equipped with new gear that makes them harder to find, hit, pick off, or easier for them to find and kill you.  When that happens it means you have to adjust your play style against them. So you're always solving a new puzzle strategically.  There would be no more ridiculous enemies on harder difficulties. All the enemies are the exact same to kill. They don't have boosts to their health so instead of taking 5 shots to kill they take 15...  Rather they would be smarter. They would hide more, try to sneak up on you, try to distract you, rush you if your weak, figure out your weaknesses and exploit them. There may be more of them, but their real strength isn't in numbers.   The kinds of health boosts you would see would be due to new gear. But the gear must always stay realistic.  For instance, it would be fine to have an enemy coated in armor that is tailored to shrug of bullets entirely. But that armor must fulfil some requirements.  First, if it is made of something that is rare to find or hard to manufacture (which is likely) then it can't be on every single enemy. Especially if it's a race that in their background is not industrious. It has to be used sparingly and in realistic places (not a random alien outpost defending crap... Or just so far away that supplies like the take time to get there.)  Second, if it is something that's easy to make and is all over the place (like shields on hydras that are immune to everything) there has to be a weakness. This weakness doesn't need to be exploitable on the spot. The hydras weakness is a poorly rotating shield. You'd think the the vex would be smart enough to make a full circle... Or a bubble if it's that effective.   The only exception for that is an explanation... Such as limited power to use on shielding. But if that is the case the vex should be busy improving it so that it's more effective.   That's what the devs will do. They are the brains behind all the aliens. They decide what would be smart for that race to do given its objective. It would be great fun for the devs too! They would get to be together and choose what they want their race to do, then take it to the destiny game world managers and okay it. Then other devs would make their moves with their races in a way that's realistic!  Those devs will even control the last of earth. Continually making missions that need to be done for players to assist in helping humanity.  So a group of the devs are the Speaker. Together they create missions that are difficult enough and long enough that they can use the millions of guardians at their disposal.  The game universe would be set up detailing the fact that there are millions of Guardians. But the devs (the Speaker) has plenty for them to do.

      • Good list. But honestly man, they don't care about all this right now. They are probably working on destiny 2, and what they need to do to get it's story straightened out.

        • In-Game Market system for people who got duplicates or plus, seen one guy have five Suros Regimes and two Gjallerhorn's with the right amount of Strange Coins, Motes of Light, or Glimmer the man could have rolled in it to name a price for his extras.

          • Number 10 is NOT talked about enough. It literally makes zero sense to have some matchmaking but not all?? Or a way to at least orchestrate with some people in game, like you said a board or something. When I'm in game I want to be in that world. Not think, "Crap, now I have to get off to put together a stellar fireteam." Call me lazy, call me old, I don't care. Should have been in day one!

            • This is just a thought feel free to post what u think of it below but, I think since ships have no role in the game whatsoever other than staring at it in orbit, there should be ship races in space with other people. Dodging asteroids uses your ships guns to your advantage sounds like fun.

              • I don't agree with changing the return to orbit for the nightfall dude. It's the nightfall and that's the point of It lol. The buff on the nightfall that returns you to orbit literally is called nightfall lol. So everything else seems forsure, deff not that one tho.

              • I agree with almost everything here it's a solid list. I am however quite fond of the radar system. Also if there was much variant in the armor shader hues there would be much less point in getting new shaders. Also to Bungie and Activision I say well done. It seems like much of the forums contain complaints. And yea I would love to see some of these changes but that said you done a solid job so far and I trust that the game will only get better from here. I have played for hours and somehow I can tirelessly replay the strikes and story missions having a blast each time. great job to you all! Destiny is hands down my favorite game! Not just now but thus far in my life of 18 years.

                • Definitely matchmaking for everything.I'm sick of hitting recruitment on the app typing how many we need, what level and then typing their gamertag into xbox friends and inviting them... It's too long then once you've finally sorted it you have minimum 2 hours in VOG. Also storyline would be good. I hear the gromoire cards supply storyline but you have to go online to read it

                  ABSOLUTE RESPECT MY FELLOW GUARDIAN BTW: I Can understand why a trade system was not implemented, they did not add it in so that everyone could have their own individual experience with the game I.e: Giving a low lvl player an exotic, legendary, or rare weapon can ruin their personal experience, as in, they would not get the feeling of euphoria when they grab their first -BLANK- weapon or item. So it is understandable that they would not implement this into the game.

                  21. Make the Girmoire cards actually WORTH the time to go over. They should have some actual affect on the progression of the story. Maybe including side missions for certain cards or upgrades to your character class. 22. Make them accessible WITHOUT having to come to the website to read them. 23. Give your characters dialogue outside of the rendered scenes. 24. Create side missions that are unique to each character class, making the journey through the game unique with every class you play. Beyond that, it's a pretty good game.

                    Number 3, 9, 11, 19 can all GTFO. Offline play, more farming. Trading, will ruin the whole game. The whole point is to get a fireteam for the harder strikes and raids. Also this will remove solo runs. The radar is fine and if changed, should be changed only for PvE and not PvP.
