Destiny Will Need A Halo-Level Multiplayer Or It'll Be Barren After A Year

When I say Halo-level, I meant the quality and size of the multiplayer. Halo 2 and 3 had incredible multiplayer modes. Destiny has a very amateur multiplayer. I don't think people will be playing singleplayer all the time because it's linear and relatively short and after that, you have some Strikes and Raids which will be boring after you get good at and used to all of them. After that point, there's not much else other than Crucible which is a low-grade Halo and people will stop playing because it's amateur and doesn't have that addictive effect boring FPS games, like CoD, has. CoD has a style, atmosphere, and many bursts of rewarding feelings that gets you hooked on it like some drug. Destiny's Crucible is not much multiplayer-wise and doesn't have that addictive effect some FPS have. EDIT: Just fixing some spelling errors.

  • So what you're saying is that if Bungie doesn't being in some Halo style multiplayer maps all the PVP players will eventually leave the game and only the people who want to enjoy the PVE will remain to enjoy all the DLC along with the next few games they plan on making over the next ten years. (starts email) Dear Bungie, Please never make an Halo style multiplayer maps for Destiny. Thank you

Basically if they aren't careful Desiny could be the next Halo 4. (at least multiplayer wise) I think the story will be good. I'm still frustrated by Bungie's decisions on the social features being very limited not that I'm a very social guy I just want to be able to meet cool randoms in Destiny rather then meeting them here.

K...you hate the game. Why waste your life tracking down the forum of a game you hate just to post an "I hate this game" thread? I just don't get it :-/ I'm not a big fan of Peggle, in fact that self absorbed unicorn gives me the shits...wait wait....I get it now....gotta go...... Off the the Peggle forum to give those DEVS the benefit of my vast game design knowledge....boy oh boy the Unicorn is gonna get it....... ;)

Destiny does not need anything like halo it's a huge game with tons of stuff to do if you want a better multiplayer stick to cod or other gay ass games destiny will take a long time to get every single item in the game and to see all it's not designed for dumbasses with add that can't stay on one spot destiny was created to be a different game then any other game on the market and to run on a kick ass server unlike all the other shit games if you don't like it don't buy it. Ten years in the making you people make me sick this is a -blam!-ing awesome game keep up the great work bungie.

I prefer staying alive to fight back against an opponent I can see.

          • You do realize Destinys multiplayer will be more intense than CoD and thats why a lot will enjoy it? Imagine a lobby of full 30's with great gear and maxed out abilities/play styles. Along with supers/grenades, the verticality, the PvP will be more amazing than CoD. I found the PvP is Destiny 50x more enjoyable than CoD. I could Destiny PvP all day.
Go back to CoD you Cod fanboy
• How do you know so much about a game thats not released? I don't believe you actually know how much content will be in the game including dlc.

              • Believe it or not there ARE people who can play a game (and enjoy it) for a long time without needing a Multiplayer to tide them over or who even bother going to PvP in the first place.... We've only seen one gametype and a few maps. I wouldn't compare Destiny's PvP to anything else just yet because we don't know how everything else is going to play out. Personally I hope it isn't like Halo or CoD. That'd be unoriginal and boring. Sure you can't really innovate PvP as its just players killing each other. The Iron Banner is kind of an interesting thing that sets it a bit apart from the other games. As someone mentioned earlier. PvE seems to be their main focus. Raids, missions, Strikes. All those enemies and types, the different landscapes, etc. PvE is also where you get all your loot in order to be better, especially when it comes to competing in the Iron Banner (you will NEED all that good loot). Heck the Vaults of Glass had a clan try it. 24 people in 4 groups, only 2 made it to the end (one of which essentially had to be boosted to the end) and neither finished. One group washed out to just play Strikes and missions. (It took DeeJ's team 45 minutes just to open the door to START the raid.)

              • I disagree. I find the crucible much more addictive than the late CoD games.

              • I think Destiny can do its own thing without needing to be as popular as Halo. I will say that Destiny is very reminiscent to Halo thanks to the same engine (tweaked or otherwise, it's still almost identical), and the map design feels familiar - as far as I'm concerned, Destiny is as close to Halo as Bungie can get without actually having to make those games. As much as I liked Halo 3's multiplayer it was really only the Forge mode that kept me occupied, and without it the game's lifespan would've been considerably shorter for me.
CoD has a style, atmosphere, and many bursts of rewarding feelings that gets you hooked on it like some drug.
For me that doesn't exist. The style and atmosphere are those of a modern military shooter, and the rewards I can quite easily get from PvZ: Garden Warfare. I will say it used to be euphoric because the gameplay was fast and tense, plus it put you in very uncomfortable situations such as close-quarters combat or short timers to complete objectives. I can get that from various other games nowadays though. With Destiny I still found the gameplay to be enjoyable, and I wasn't burnt out on PvP so quickly because it paced itself better than most MP games have. I think that's what counts - not instant gratification, but long lasting appeal and strong replay value.

              • Also it's missing private matches (along with custom modes like you could do in halo), level editors (what if we wanted a large flat land and build racing levels for sparrows), and much more with it. This is what kept me playing halo 3 was all the innovative things people would create and fun game modes. It be nice (idea: give us forge mode from halo but let us turn into our ghosts instead of that stupid forge ball =0). someone probably already had this idea.

                • Do you not understand that four professional clans tried to do the vault of glass for 16 hours and none of the groups did it successfully. In fact a couple of them had to be skipped through parts and still couldn't do it sooo... Have fun

                • Please just stfu and go back to halo 2/3 with the rest of your kind that go on and on about how great it is. Destiny is definitely not halo 2 and will never be. To you that's a bad thing and to me that's a -blam!-ing great thing. tl;dr - piss off

                • Honestly the pvp will be amazing. Think about it. Yea you got all that pve armor but will it translate over to pvp? Most likely no. Trust me when I say you are wrong the pvp will be brilliant.

                • You need to stop jumping to conclusions based off a 10% of real game beta. You're basically reading the first three pages of a massive novel by an author you enjoy, then be like "this book sucks, so -author- sucks too." Destiny is not, and hopefully never will be, Halo. Bungie is not associated with the Halo franchise anymore, get over it. Destiny has already had over 7 gametypes confirmed, and a variety of maps. That compared to the 1 gametype and 3 maps we got to see.

                • Yeah, because one gamemode is enough to compare the Crucible to COD multiplayer. You ain't seen nothing yet.

                • I think it does have the effect, but each to their own. I think it may be too early to judge, we haven't seen the real high-level play yet. When I see lvl 20+:s fighting each other in Iron Banner, I deem myself worthy to judge the PvP:s credibility.

                • I see youre point but Destinys big attraction is PvE not PvP. Bungie does realize that PvP is important but they are focusing on PvE. P.S the raids are going to be extremely hard. (Bungies words not mine) They are going to be extremely Very super-dooperly really Difficultly hard to the max.
True story
A huge group of people played them for 6 or 12 hours (I cant remember which) and they came out unsuccessful
