Just curious how you would handle the situation different?
-
From the police perspective? Bomb: EOD would check the door. Drill hole use snake cam to check interior. See guy playing on pc, apologize for door, pay home owner, look for prank caller. Active shooter call: siege building. Investigate. Only send swat into possible danger scenario if evidence of necessity presents itself. After investigation shows prank call. See above. Really that sums up two scenarios to cover various things. Bio chem would be similar to bomb, hostage situation same as active shooter. I can't see a single reason to simply receive a phone call then raid a private residence without provocation or investigation. It's bullshit. Plain and simple. There it's no reason for swat to rush in that fast.
-
Actually for an active shooter, first 4-5 officers on scene form up and sweep the building fast and carefully ignoring all cries for help from the wounded. By the way they were dressed, this could be what happened because they all did not have swat gear. This is called the "contact team." Once the contact team clears areas of the building, a rescue team enters those safe areas and extracts civilians and wounded. If this was the call, they handled it correctly. This is not splinter cell my man, they use xray for bomb detection not snake cams. And just because there is a guy on a comp doesnt mean its clear. Imagine if u did that and apologized for the door or whatever u were saying and just as u leave, the bomb goes off. You wanna talk about a lawsuit? Ya, your idea would get one. Nice investigation there officer. I say again, dont pretend to know about police tactics
-
X-ray? Pfffffft ease up there cod kid. This isn't star trek
-
Edited by Sterg50: 8/30/2014 7:52:18 PMUh ya, xray... Its not new technology. They use it at air ports too... Ringing a bell? Take your time, think about it.
-
Those machines are HUGE how the hell does swat sneak one of those around? They must be ninjas?
-
Oh boy, ok im done with this. Its small ones attached to eod bots. Nice talking with u
-
Now you're telling me we have Robocop? I can't tell if you're trolling or insane!
-
Dude, you r ignorant. Google eod bot and leave me alone
-
You think I'm going to waste my time googling some sort of fictitious transformer that has x-ray vision, you must be completely batshit crazy. Maybe you should google a mental health professional
-
Ok, will do. Nice talking with you troll
-
Took you long enough fool. Lolololol

Active shooter means there is a person ACTIVELY SHOOTING others. In Colorado (which is where this occurred), in an active-shooter situation, police move in to engage as soon as there are at least 2 officers present. This protocol has been in place since the infamous Columbine shooting, wherein the police did exactly as you suggested and waited, allowing more and more people to become victims. The call the police received indicated there was an active shooter (it was phone in from the shooters perspective, i.e. "I have shot someone and am going to shoot more."

I don't know, even in my job everyone watching always thinks they can do a better job until you hand them the tools and tell them to have at it. It was a place of business I could see them arriving at the lobby and someone saying he's in such and such office alone, that said I completely would kick in the door and move in on a possible suspect to catch them alone without the hostages. We're only seeing what happened in the guys room, no idea what was done prior. We all have the entire back story and all the time in the world to come up with a better plan, unfortunately when you're responding to an actual event in progress you don't have that time or half as much information. A hostage situation and a Active Shooter call are two different things, active shooter is just that. Every second that you aren't isolating and getting the suspect under control could be another life taken. A Hostage situation you have more options because the suspect hasn't made the decision to take a life yet. We are two people who have two very different expectations, so I won't say you are wrong or right. My point is there's the victims family or someone else who would sue if the police didn't respond fast or aggressive enough, You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. I just hate went the wrong people are held accountable for the action some loser takes, all you really achieve is hurting the people who put their life on the line while trying to protect innocent people from getting hurt. At the end of the day they were responding to a call, no one was physically hurt and they are pursuing the prankster. To me that is the best outcome, would I be frustrated? yes, would I understand? absolutely, would I try to sue them? No. Would I sue the prankster? Yes
-
They were clearing an entire office building and they had to do it quick because of the report of an active shooter. What they did with the information they had, was just fine. You can play armchair officer all you want, but there is no basis in reality with your scenarios.
-
Where's the flash bang anyway? One exit room with no bang? Still not legit.
-
I have a friend who was wanted on a drug charge. Police threw flashbang into window and it landed on his sleeping 80 year old mother, she has hearing issues now and is lucky she can see. Worst thing was they had a whole swat team run in like the damn navy seals with helicopter and everything for a drug charge. The American police state is getting out of control, highly trained swat teams are supposed to be for hostage situations, armed robbery, etc. not cuz you grew a pot plant in your closet.
-
What does this have to do with an Active Shooter situation again?
-
They are used to execute high risk warrants as well. I imagine there's a variety of things that could make a warrant be considered 'high risk' and there's no proportionate relationship between a persons charge/warrant and their capacity to be dangerous. I'm not trying to justify their use of a flash-bang in your friends case (I wasn't there, I have no comment); I am pointing out that a SWAT or SRT teams purpose is more varied than what you seem to be aware of.

Wow you just proved you don't know shit. Idiot.

It's composed of the useless parts of food and dead cells. It's brown because dead blood cells are brown. You poop scab covered useless food. Weird. But we're not talking about that. Why bring it up?
-
Poop is actually brown because of digested bile from your gall bladder. Guess you really don't know shit.
