I used chat in destiny, was in a fire team and we both could hear each other but the audio sounded like when your ghost talks like he was talking from inside the helmet, had to change to party chat because I could barely hear him over the weird distortion in the audio. I guess I'm the only one who experienced that

It's possible, I think, that the audio effects on the voice chat may have caused the 'distortion.' They made it so that the voices sounded like they were actually in the environment of the game. Not sure why it would impact it that way but it could be a possibility. What kind of headset did you use? I use a PS Gold wireless and all the sound was great for me.

An turtle beach x12 on ps4, sound was fine but ya sounded like it was coming from within the game rather than normal chat functions

I've never used one of those. You mean as if the voices were part of the game? If that's what you mean; that's the way it was suppose to sound. The other player's voice would become quieter as they got farther away. Wherever they were with relation to me, they sounded like that's where they were; close/far, left/right, in front/behind. In surround sound. It definitely did not sound like a phone call like how chat sounded in other games.

No not a phone call, and not like proximity chat. Just like it was coming from in the helmet like a radio between guardians, it sounded really cool cuz I thought it was a neat lil feature they added. It was just hard to hear because of it that's all. Just kinda wondered it anyone else had the same experience

Muffled sound like Darth Vader?
