I rolled a Warlock because it seemed the most balanced, dealing decent mid-ranged damage and having a jolly super that brought a twisted smile to my face. However, the classes have very unique selling points that might encourage you in one direction or the other.
I plopped this comment down in another thread and I think it is roughly correct, though with the other subclasses (Bladedancer, Sunsinger, etc.), there is even more room for exansion of possibly play styles.
But perhaps it is playstyle that might get in the way. The game is set up to play to your strengths. If you are good with long range, point blank, and enjoy fast movement speeds, roll a hunter and focus on sniping and keeping only fray-adjacent (i.e., keep out of the skirmish and solve your problems before they even know they're your problem). If you like your classic hero to be tanky, heavy, and kind of a jack of all trades, play as a titan. They are, in my opinion, the most relatable class to other games whilst having the special that makes the hand of god clapping seem somewhat wimpy. For me, I rolled a warlock because I enjoy midrange weapons, snipers, and rocket launchers, but also enjoy having a somewhat ranged super. I spend more time keeping spider tanks busy, both from close and far range, but never get to the point where I need to deal with CQC. There are loads of options to make it so that your playstyle fits with your guardian.
Sorry to hear that, mate. Been avoiding the #Destiny forums because of that. #Feedback hasn't been faring all that well either. I just realised that OP edited the topic. Makes me look like I can't stay on topic xD
