I 90% agree. Like respawn not adding split screen to titanfall because there'll be a lot of stuff happening on screen - the players will decide, its better to have the option at least. But adding too many modes can kill multiplayer, although they will add more and private matches will come.

You are correct, and that was the *only* argument I could come up with that didn't favor private matches. That said, If properly disincentivized, I see no reason private matches would interfere with the crucible. I speak particularly about disabling any stat gathering, experience/light, reputation, or loot. Therefore making these private matches strictly for learning/fun/clan battles. Otherwise, it's a complete waste of time. Alternately, you could also simply make some way for clans to pick and choose what other clans they battle (barring themselves). Certainly, if people were dedicated, they could just have their friends make an alternate clan, and battle them all day. but again, with no rewards.. it makes it pretty hard to justify.
