It sounds to me like creating a character and logging them in are 2 separate actions, where one will be available to you at your local time and the actual logging in of your created character (to go to orbit and visit the tower/earth/etc.) will have to wait until they flip the switch to allow the servers to be accessed by the public, which won't be until midnight Pacific Time at Bungie HQ.

That what started running through my mind after I posted this. So that you can jump right into the game as soon as the servers go up and not have to worry about character creation later and getting in your way of just jumping right into the action.

That makes sense. I really don't want it to (17hrs ahead of of PST), but It's hard to fault that logic. I'll try anyway, but if it fails i'll just go to bed rather than "strom the forums". :/
