Nah, its not THAT necessary. And like people have said before, wouldn't really work well with gear and lvling. If you really want to play with someone else on the same screen, you can always go old school, in PvE switch off after one of you dies, and in PvP switch off after every round. Or every death there too, doesn't matter.
