Ranked Big Team Battle is Live in Halo 3
Sixteen player carnage in ranked form has arrived in Halo 3. Log in to matchmaking and hop into the Ranked Big Team Battle playlist to take it for a spin.

Just be thankful that we actually have this playlist in the first place. And while I do understand your frustrations based on Bungie's checkered past (THC FTL) I don't think that tone was really necessary. I mean it is BTB after all and at least Bungie is giving us something to work with here. I for one am just glad that we don't have to endure having to be teamed up with or against lowly guests. Sure the playlist will need some fine tuning and feedback is a welcome contribution. But man it's posts such as this that I'm sure makes many Bungie staffers shake their heads and become even more disenchanted with the community as a whole.

Where is BTB Slayer on Highground? Slayer on Isolation? We can play H2 BTB Slayer on Lockout and Midship but we can't get some medium-largish maps in this playlist for the sake of variety? The only good thing I saw in the update was that the playlist would apparently be all BR starts. At least you did something right. I agree with this, there should be more variety in maps. BR's rock.

How is rats nest going to work? I assume that those who haven't gotten the map pack will still be able to do the ranked btb so is it going to match us up with others who have the map pack for rats nest matches? I guess i'll figure it out later if my friends who dont have the map pack will still be able to play ranked btb. It would be cool to be able to still play btb with all my friends but also get some ranked games on rats nest when they aren't in my party.

Default settings or not the BR will still be the most sought after and most utilized weapon in BTB matches period. This is due in large part to its versatility and mid range efficiency especially on huge maps like Sandtrap. The contrasting gameplay dynamics associated with BT BR starts in comparison to Rocket starts completely undermines your arguement here. While one places emphasis on aiming precision the other results in a random splash damage spam fest. No comparison. Like I stated in my previous post with BTB now being ranked experienced players will be pitted against opponents of equal skill who are just as efficient or inept with the BR as they are so I really don't see what the problem is here. Yes, Counter Parrot, But I think the BR and AR are perfectly balanced in a game because you have a mid-range weapon and a short-range weapon right off the bat. What do you think the default weapons should be.
