For a long time Star Wars fans have been clamoring for Disney/Lucasfilm to re-release the original, unaltered cut of the first Star Wars trilogy, and Comicbook.com has now confirmed with two independent reliable sources that just such a plan is under way.
According to our sources, Disney has plans to release the original cut of the Star Wars trilogy on Blu-ray. Our sources indicate that the project has been under way for quite some time, but it’s been challenging because of some damage to the original negatives they are utilizing. The goal is to release A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of Jedi in their complete, unaltered, original form without the redone special edition SFX.
Our sources did not have an exact date as to when the original cut of the Star Wars Trilogy would be released on Blu-ray, due to the challenges Disney has encountered in pulling everything together. However, our sources indicated the goal is to have it ready and released before Star Wars Episode VII is released in theaters.
Source.

So...didn't they destroy the originals for the special edition or was that indy?
-
So it's the one where Han shoots first?

Edited by Bolt: 8/17/2014 3:44:20 AMI can't wait to watch the death star explode without that stupid ass wave. Disney confirmed better than Pukeass.

HAN SHOT FIRST. Get it right, Lucas. For -blam!- sake. Anyway, yay. Muh blu-ray quality Princess Leia slave outfit.
-
Yes! #HanShotFirst

Edited by HurtfulTurkey: 8/17/2014 3:48:36 AM>Not watching them on glorious VHS format as our Lord and Savior George Lucas intended
#justiceforHan
- Dude, there's absolutely no way we can make people buy these again. The well is dry. ~ Oh yeah.. watch this.

Why Is The Title Written Like This?
-
I'd rather have #6.

Edited by DemonicChronic: 8/17/2014 4:06:32 AMI watched the originals recently and the added CGI was cringe worthy.

Edited by Smarkdow: 8/17/2014 4:20:39 AMCool, the Special Editions are still better and represent Lucas' actual vision for the films. I never understood why people hated on Lucas for altering his films (for the better). The redone effects make the film so much more enjoyable than the old, shitty 70s effects they used to have. As for Han shooting first, who really cares? It makes no difference whether he shoots first or second; besides, it's so close you can't even tell. Him shooting first, with no retaliation from Greedo whatsoever makes him look like a cold-blooded psychopath, which he obviously isn't.
Not being serious

Or am I?
Why does your name have a "Ninja" box underneath it?
-
Yes! Will celebrate with a star wars party with some friends when it comes out.
-
So are there any big differences between the original and altered? Or is the altered one just prettier? I'm positive I've seen both versions but I don't know any of the differences. Except I think the Sarlaac Pit has spikes in one of them.
-
I'm gonna buy dis.

Edited by waltzz22: 8/17/2014 10:17:29 AMFinally there will be fresh proof
Han Solo shot first
...I know .. Iknow.... but my Video Tapes of the originals wore out. Yes I will buy it.

It'll be an attempt at editing the existing special editions to recreate the original cut because George burned the original reels while throwing action figures of Tho' Frelmuht the garbage disposal from the Mos Eisley Cantina in the air and ranting about how it's like poetry.

*vomits*

I already bought the entire saga collection on blu ray last year, but I'll have to get this. Finally I can watch it without Vader saying NOOOOOOOO.
-
Speaking of Star Wars, check out the new storm trooper helmet for episode 7.
