If you're not a peasant, then you must be a lord (and they typically lived large at the expense of the people they impoverished, aka the peasants). Not better by any means but there many are benefits! I'm a fair and kid feudal lord. My plebs get a decent amount of land to work on and I do not tax them. Whatever surplus goods they produce I get but they keep most of it for personal consumption or trade. This ensures a very comfortable living for all and no riots. Welcome to a new era, welcome to the New Monarchy.
