Eric Osborn was just live with IGN from Gamescom and confirmed that the Hand Cannon (and Pulse Rifle, but who cares) are getting a buff. He said they weren't as powerful as they want, and that people were too drawn to the auto rifle, so they are getting a buff.
I am pretty excited, as the hand cannon appeals to me on many levels, but almost all that found were not worth using over the auto rifle.

As you can see from the comments, the interviewer was horrible, but stick with it.

This is why u put Hand Cannon secondary. I just hope the Hand Cannon wont the #1 gun .... because that PvP will sure look terrible, Hand Cannon and Shotgun ... Buwhahaha
-
I agree the questions could have been better but remember this is Germany. English is probably her second or third language. She seemed like she was having trouble choosing her words and comprehension of Eric's answers may not have been 100%. Just saying.

I was one of the fools who tried to use the hand cannon in pvp. Needless to say, the only way I could do good in a game was to use my sniper. Otherwise, Hand cannon suuuuuuucked. It doesn't need to be 2 shot kill, just faster reload, rate of fire, and a little more stability so I can stand a chance against the auto rifles
-
I couldn't even watch a minute of that video. Can someone please tell me what is being buffed?
-
If the hand cannon is viable, then I'll likely run with it. I felt badass with it in PvE but completely unusable in PvP. Even in PvE, it wasn't great but just felt badass to use. The small mag (understandable for a hand gun) and the extremely long reload time relative to other weapons meant that you sent FAR fewer rounds down range. Also, it wasn't as useful as a shotgun or fusion rifle so it was in this limbo state.
-
I'm glad the Pulse Rifle is getting a buff. I liked using it but it was just too weak.
-
Sweet.
-
Man, that lady commenter seemed extremely disinterested...
-
Most awkward interviewer ever lol.
-
I totally agree I wanted to use both hand cannons and pulse rifles but I thought the both didn't perform to the level they should have

Edited by Hostile AKs: 8/15/2014 10:03:18 PMThe hand cannon would also be better at high lvl because you get chain of woe snd that increased reload helped make it a little useful. It was NOT better then the scout or auto but if you let those guys run in and draw aggro and just headshot with the hand cannon it was pretty fun. I just wish the reload was faster if you reload 2-3 bullets instead of the same speed if you empty. That might help some along with chain of woe.
-
I understand everybodies joy over the Handcannons buff, and agree, but what was wrong with the pulse rifle outside of PvP? I'll give you that in PvP it was nigh-USELESS. But in PvE where was the problem? For the strong recoil pulses aim for just below the neck and you're fine. For the low recoil three rounds to the noggin of whatever you're killing per trigger pull sounds good to me! Just don't see where all the hate comes from was I the only one who was using these things?
-
Does that mean its buffed in PvE or just PvP? I'd prefer just PvP to be honest
-
This is good news
-
BOOM thank god. All you fools saying how great it was not listening to logic just got owned. The think sucked, slow as hell, no range, and the same power per shot as anything else. If you ever went near someone with ANY other gun you couldn't even get 2 shots off before getting shit on.
-
I've only watched a couple seconds of the interview but it's already obvious to me that she's incredibly nervous and maybe a little confused about the subject material.
-
Uh... some people used the pulse rifle in the Beta, so they care.
-
That interviewer sounded extremely unprepared for that interview. It's sad those people get to ask the questions fans want to know but utterly fail at their jobs. It's not hard. Do your research ahead of time, take a deep breath, and have a goddamn conversation. AGHHH..
-
I don't think any weapons are overpowered. They were made strong for a reason. I hate it when people say "oh you suck you're using an OP gun" it's really annoying because then everything has to get nerfed.
-
The hand cannon was fine, with the exception of the reload time. You expect a low ammo capacity, and you can expect to get 2 kills per clip, if on target. The super slow reload killed the idea for me. You were better off going with a scout rifle at 4 shots per kill and three kills per clip with a shorter reload time. The Auto still ruled, without doubt.
-
looks like all the babes and noobs finally got what they want where nerfed guns
-
Yes! The hand cannon is my favourite weapon but I couldn't use it in PvP because It was too underpowered.
-
Really all that needs to be done is a damage increase for the hand cannons and a decrease in recoil for the pulse rifles.
-
I'm starting to dislike Assault rifles they are overused in every single fps game. I prefer using other guns to add some challenge to pvp and pve so it adds some excitement to game play. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying people that use or like assault rifles have no skill or are dumb but I just find that they are over used and I want to be original.
-
for those of you who want to skip to it, its at 4:00 roughly
-
Scout Rifle dominates in PvP and PvE, but the auto rifle still has an advatnage in PvP. Hand Cannon seemed like it should have been the converse of the scout rifle, which would be most effective at mid-short range. It was very difficult to use the scout rifle at that range.
