Interesting concept. Firstly, the game needs to support this feature from what I gather. Secondly, you either need to download the typically ungodly large file or (more likely) Sony is putting their PS Now tech to work. If they are then that means internet speeds and latency will be an issue. If the former is the scenario then it's a poor man's Family Sharing. In the original concept of Family Sharing you could play a friend's game as long as you're the only one playing it apart from the owner. With PlayStation firmware 2.0 it appears you'll need your buddy to be online and invite you. A feature is better than no feature so this is great news for PS4 owners. But, without details, it seems like hype should be taken sparingly. It could also be great news for Xbox One owners. If Sony is encouraging the Shared Play feature, it might kick Microsoft in the pants so they can hurry with their promised Family Sharing feature (which by the descriptions sounds like it does "sharing" better).

  • Family sharing on X1? I remember it as being "if you are a gold member on this xbox, and it is your home xbox, everyone who plays on this xbox plays as a gold member" and that is actually functioning now, family sharing in that respect is on X1. I also remember them taking it away, right? When they announced no DRM. I think it was a way of saying "oh you don't like DRM? Well then no family sharing for you" but it's on and working so idk what happened

  • When they pulled it from their plans gamers complained and they put it back on the table. Before launch they announced it's still their intention to bring Family Sharing. Without DRM they just got to figure a different way of doing it.

  • Anyway tho, they "promised family sharing" and it's here.

  • Right. I'm glad their policies and decisions were swayed by the communities outrage/feedback, it really changed my opinion of MS.

  • " Yoshida said the feature works with all PS4 games without any effort on the part of developers".

  • I think it will work more like a "stream", as how they do it with the PS3 rental games on the PS4, or how you can stream your PS4 to your Vita. I think it's more like that.
