I never understood why people take days off for a game. Yes, I understand you're excited to play the latest, greatest release of the moment. But losing a day of school, or even worse a whole day's pay for a video game? Makes no sense to me. The game isn't going anywhere. Unless you're using PTO in the case of the working people, take your slacker asses to school and work and play the game when you get home. (That's a joke, BTW. Lighten the f*ck up, internet)
And for any other ignorant morons who come up with the idea that I'm trying to tell you what to do with your time, I'm not. I'm saying the idea of losing a day of pay or school for someone who DOESN'T have the proper means to do so makes no sense to me. If it doesn't apply to you, why bother speaking on it, eh? As the saying goes "If it don't apply, let it fly".

DON'T TELL ME HOW TO SPEND MY- ...oh...ummmm...hi.

Get 160hrs of vacation time a year and didn't get to go anywhere this year so guess what? Gonna triple down on it this coming week. Birthday, Destiny and no work. All while getting paid for it. Sweet deal, a win in my book.
-
Who would lose pay for it? I don't even need to book time off (paid holiday) I just arranged the shifts so i work before the 9th (sunday and monday) then the following saturday. in my job that's 42 hours in a week
-
7 days of Paid vacation. I'm excited.
-
Good thing I have 6 days to miss of school, games comes out on Tuesday so I'll take 2 days off then catch up and play on the weekend assuming I don't a lot of homework.
-
I get 240 hrs leave a year plus odd hours for time worked. So I've taken the 9th and 10th off and I'm being paid
-
Good thing I get 2.5 days a month being in the military. I will be taking the week off.

Edited by xanth420: 8/14/2014 5:17:20 AMGot to spend my PTO some how! What's better then playing a new game and still getting paid?
-
That's why have the mgr go through hoops of fire to rearrange my schedule.
-
I got over 100 hours of PTO, i took a week off to play. I get over 16 hours a month lol let me have my fun bro.

Edited by wigriffi: 8/12/2014 5:42:10 PM"Take your slacker ass to school or work" You're right. I'm obviously ignorant for thinking that you're telling people what to do. Like you said, if it doesn't apply to you why comment on it? Edit: I have PTO as well, but if someone calls in or skips they'll face consequences from their superiors. No one respects pseudo-authority over the internet anyway.
-
I get a metric ass load of vacation time each year. I'm actually getting paid to play using vacation time.
-
Nice. I've got 3 weeks myself that need to be used before Dec. 31st, and most of those are carried over from last year. They accrue for my job, maxing out at 60 days.
-
I get 5 weeks of PTO a year, which is maxed out and I'm actually losing money by not taking time off, so I got that excuse going for me.
-
I get 5 weeks a year to lol,but i use my PTO.

Glad you actually read the post and chose not to answer like an ignorant moron like "others" who replied. If you have PTO (as I do as well) the obviously you can take the day with no problem. But there's plenty of people who don't, and or students who'll ditch a day of class just to get and play the game. I know here in NYC school starts on Sept 4th, so for a student to ditch on the 4th day of class makes no sense IMO.

I agree completely with what your saying (since I wasn't sure if you were calling me a moron or not . . .the sarcasm font in text is often miss understood) and to be honest, I've always been astonished . . . no, not the right word, abhorred by parents, that will take little Johnny to a midnight release of a game during the school week (which of course it always is since the "release" dates used by music and video games has never made any sense to me) just because that's what little Johnny wants and he always gets what he wants . . . it's called being a parent and telling your child, "Uh, no, I'll pick up the game tomorrow and you *might* be able to play it tomorrow if you get your chores done . . . " I've pissed off many a 8-14 yr child in Gamestop where they are asking their clueless parent to buy GTA 5 or COD, or some other graphically mature game and telling them that they probably don't want to buy that for their child as it's not appropriate. I've had the range of "Hey, thanks" to "Mind your own business" It's the latter that will also be seen letting their kid skip school to play a video game. As for me, I'm an adult and manage my PTO time so I have it available to use when I want to use it. Sorry it got a little off topic, but it is one that I'm rather passionate.

Well written, and well said. And no, the moron comment isn't directed to people who are in our situation of having PTO to burn. But as per internet usual, most people choose to read subjectively and draw their own, often times mislead and ignorant conclusions. Those are the people that was directed towards.
-
Here in the USA we get vacation days, personal days and some people even get sick days. I don't understand why you would give a shit what I do with my time
-
I don't give a shit what you do with your time. I speak in terms and regards to the people who don't get sick days from their jobs. Or did you miss the part in the post where I say "Unless you're using PTO". Subjective reading makes you mighty ignorant, doesn't it? Muted, because I could care less what drivel you say in response.
-
You know your argument is sound, but your manner is ethnocentric & snobbish. Go back to Elitist Jerks. I have PTO for the release too, but I have better things to do with my time than to worry or complain about what anyone does with their time (which is hypocritical as I'm expressing the exact opposite in your case.) In the immortal words of Buckaroo Bonzai, "Wherever you go, there you are." If people without PTO take the time off, then they will deal with any consequences, good or bad. Let's leave the name calling out of it....moron.
-
Takes a moron to know one, doesn't it? Muted. Enjoy the silence, imbecile.
-
Real men mute anyone who calls them out on being a d-bag. Let me guess I'm muted now.
-
Or just book the week of work and get paid whilst playing destiny!?
