Why has no one discussed this...

Is anyone else disappointed that the PVP limit on players is 12? After playing BF4, anything less than 12v12 seems very last gen and slow paced. Even killzone had 24 player matches. At the very least have a big team battle game type like in Halo. While 3v3 and 6v6 can be fun and challenging, sometimes its just fun to jump into chaos and see who comes out on top. Anyone else agree? Some of you guys seem to think I'm comparing BF4 and Destiny directly. I'm merely using it as an example. I do not want 64 player matches. I do not think every map should allow 24 players. All I'm asking for is a couple maps that can support 24ish players. Such as, Halos big team battles did. Or even CODs Big team deathmatch.

  • I will be honest I didn't even think about it, but I guess the way I judge PvP is based on how much fun I am having and if everyone is getting a fair shot at being successful. I think it is to Bungie's credit that I was having such a good time that I didn't stop to consider what flaws in the game could be improved.

  • never thought of it. I've never played battlefield for the main reason that it's a massive cluster fuhck. I'd be down for more on a bigger map.

  • It's all about balance. If a map is big enough and there are squad mechanics- fine. But for the current destiny map sizes the balance has been made just fine- they promote teamwork and a frenetic pace of battle. The idea of the introduction of larger maps I'd support for destiny would be able to support 16 players AT MOST.

    • Less players = better teamplay.

    • They don't have more than six because then you're getting hit with super moves the whole game and that's really no fun. Imagine 32 warlock nova bombs on a small map. Not balanced

      • I think the player count is not that important. You can also have fast paced games with lower counts and also have slow paced games with higher counts. Important is the mapsize and especially the design of them. Also some games don´t have to be fast paced to be fun to play (e.g. Halo 2+3). I did not played the PVP aspect of the game enough to make any serious suggestions for destiny but as a BF veteran I can tell that BF4 is a very bad example for a good fast paced shooter (BF3 did that much better). Imo simply too much random chaos that is funny in the first few hours but gets very frustrating after a short time. Less can be sometimes more.

      • No, not really. When you go into a game with a lot of players, chances are someone will not a lousy internet service and lag, which makes it not as fun for everybody. With only 12 players max, this risk is reduced.

        • The maps are fine with 6v6 anything more would make them way to crowded

        • I also believe that Specials are just 2 OP for BTB. 12v12 and 1Epic placed Special it quickly becomes one sided. Instantly really. Now imagine saving your special and now 3 on one team have them. Nuke. Wait for Spawn. Nuke. Wait for Spawn. Nuke. WIN!

          • I do agree with what you are saying. The massiveness destiny maps have the capability of being, it should facilitate more then a six vs six. No not every map or game mode should be more then six vs six, but there should be a few competitive games modes to enjoy a larger battle.

            • Increasing the player limit like that would cause a need to increase map size in general, like in Battlefield. It also might cause the last Gen consoles to soil themselves if 8+ people all super at once.

                • Like bungie has done in Halo usually 8v8 for a total of 16 if the maps are big enough they might do it or it might be an idea for dlc

                • professional matches are usually small, typically ranging from 4v4 to 8v8. There are practical reasons for this, such as being easier to communicate and coordinate as an entire team, so no, I'm not worried or disappointed at the low player count.

                • I don't know, man...can you imagine the chaos of too many in a PVP battle? Spawn just to die a second later or immediately spawn into shooting at someone? Smaller is better sometimes. Logistics. That or the map would have to be insanely huge and you'd never be able to make it to an objective in a timely manner. Now...offering the option for some kind of massive numbers free-for-all insanity might be cool but I don't know of the bandwidth ramifications (not a tech guy AT ALL). I'm just playing devil's advocate here.

                • Destiny PVP is far more action packed than games like Battlefield or MAG. Titanfall is also 6 on 6. That is the most action packed PVP I've played. People are still realizing that next gen isn't about more players or more triangles, and I completely understand why. Those were things that could be axhieved on the older hardware, but they didn't bc it wasn't necessarily the best choice in making a fun game. The same thing goes for fire team size. I'm sure they tried plenty of possibilities. We have 3 person fire teams today because that's what they found made for the best experience. I, personally, have faith in Bungie to know when less is more.

                • Crucible is an intimate coliseum for two teams of warriors. Having all out war would be against the intimacy of smaller packs.
