The term you are looking for is "Molyneuxed" or "Pulling a Molyneux".
Pete Molyneux was/is famous for over hyping his games when he was....whatever he was.... at Lionhead Studios. Every Fable, and I think even Black & White, game had some really big expectations, set by him, that were never met (even with "The Lost Chapters"). In the end, a lot of people start thinking of "The Boy who cried Wolf" whenever he speaks. In a sense, you could say Bungie, and many other AAA dev marketing/PR/Community depts. nowadays, are pulling what Pete did.
Only reason why it still happens is because, and I quote P.T. Barnum "There's a sucker born every minute".

Yeah I agree. The only game I am really hyped for now and trust is No Man's Sky. That game is being made by 10 people in an apartment. And the way they are making the game, the entire galaxy of exploration is gamechanging. That game will be groundbreaking, not Destiny. If I'm wrong, well, I guess I will just play free to plays like Warframe and League.

Well... I wouldn't say you're wrong. "Innovative" is a better word, as the gameplay has been done before (just really REALLY poorly done). I'm definitely getting No Man's Sky as well, however I also know that the game, exploration-wise, is no different than Starbound. The thing you have to take from it is this: If anything is similar to a game you like, you're going to like it. People liked Morrowind, wound up loving Bethesda up to Skyrim.
