The director of Fallout: New Vegas, Josh Sawyer, said the franchise could potentially be turned into an MMO.
Speaking with IGN, he said, “Personally, I think there are some interesting things that could happen with Fallout in an MMO environment.”
He added, “There are some folks who kind of cobbled together all the Fallout 2 resources into kind of a makeshift MMO, made by fans. It was pretty cool but insane. It’s like if you take all of the most brutal aspects of Ultima Online and multiply them by five, you have that game.” Fallout 2–which came out in 1998–was released at around the same time as Ultima Online, considered one of the first MMORPGs.
“So I think there’s interesting potential for an online version of Fallout,” he said.
Opinion on this: FUCK NO, ok im a huge fallout fan and while i don't have the opportunity to play a PC version im in love with the franchise. After the poopfest that ESO was i seriously have hoped that they don't do the same with Fallout.
Disclaimer: Now i know this isn't confirming anything and just some interview but im really against the idea of Fallout 4 being an MMO.
What are your thoughts?

God, not ESO again. Son of a -blam!-ing bitch.
-
Noe MMO!
-
Fallout should never be an MMO
-
If they announce Fallout 4 as an MMO, I will probably cry.
-
Eww..hell no Fallout is fine being single-player
Fallout is 100x better than lolDestiny
-
MMO
Welp, I guess I'm done with Fallout too now.
-
>New Vegas Found the problem right here!
-
If done right as in no shitty subscription fee and the gameplay staying the same it does sound like fun. It would be fun having these Mad Max like gangs controlled by players in the Fallout universe.
-
I'm all for an interview, as long as they don't handle it like ESO. However, I'd just prefer a drop-in/ drop-out system in the next fallout so I can wander round with friends.
-
It sounds like they'll make fallout 4 in Massachusetts and have a separate game set possibly in LA or New Orleans for Fallout Online. I think it would be a great idea to expand their horizons but yeah I deff want a properly done fallout 4 before they perhaps butcher the series with a fallout online attempt.
-
Not another ESO...
-
Nooo :( We don't need another ESO...
-
It depends. It would be cool seeing clan-like things (like in Mad Max) that would raid others and taek der wumenz. Seriously though it depends how they implement it.
-
How old is this interview? Just wondering because a Fallout MMO was in the works a long while back, before ESO, but the studio went under during early development.

Edited by Ukimoi: 8/4/2014 3:29:00 AMThe idea should be no where in their mind if Elder Scrolls Online is anything to go by, just make a solid single player game and people will buy it, enjoy it and mod the living hell out of it to make the experience that much better.

Edited by Vgnut: 8/4/2014 3:31:47 AMGuy doesn't even work at Bethesda. Plus after what's happened with TESO I don't see Bethesda attempting another MMO with their second golden goose. TESO was maybe the final attempt at the traditional MMO model we'll ever see. At least from an established publisher.
