IDEA Flying our own ships from destination to destination
When it was first revealed that we would have personal starship I really hoped that Destiny would have where we could fly our own ships from planet to planet. But now, in the beta at least, we just passively watch a cinematic loading screen (a very awesome one, nonetheless)
I would love to see the ability to control our own starships, even if its something I have to buy post-launch. I think it can work a lot like traveling in Kingdom Hearts (forgive me for referencing other games).
For those unfamiliar with it, in Kingdom Hearts, there is a very similar element of flying a ship from world to world. In Kingdom Hearts, however, instead of a cinematic loading screen we get to control our own ship in something thats almost like a Star Wars trench run mini game. (If you want to look videos up search for Kingdom Hearts gummi ship)(It's also a lot like the broadsword level in Halo 4) You fight enemies along the way, weave through obstacles and earn upgrade pieces for your ship. The flight to each planet is different, and once you've traveled to planet, once you want to return you can simply warp to the planet and you see a cinematic loading screen instead.
I feel like Destiny could do this but a lot better, and I think it would add another level of gameplay. What do you guys think?

I agree. I was thinking the same thing when I heard you get to choose your own personal jump ship. I instantly thought of the Saber mission in Halo: Reach

9 RepliesThere was a game which actually did that to an extent called EVE. Seriously a great game, great for people who want space combat and some pretty difficult scenarios time and again, but... Destiny doing that would be asking a lot. To fly our ships through warp gates back and forth? Some people are already complaining it takes too long to load stuff or they want a skip cutscene option (the later I agree with). It's a loaded dice when you try to appeal to both crowds. To be honest, I'm happy as it is.

I reckon something along the lines of ratchet and clank is what people think of but squashing the solar system would break immersion, and this would make fire teams a bit more difficult to work with and people would end up just teleporting anyway to save time if get here is nothing more than just flying!

I think being able to simply move our ship around while in the orbit's loading screen would be grand. Like being able to move side to side while you're flying above the Earth or jumping to Venus's PVP map.

It's already been confirmed we won't have flyable ships but I wish it was in the game

I would love some type of manual flight on my space ship. Seems Bungie just wants it to be a cinematic or a loading screen dynamic Shame really. All that effort on multiple designs for basically not much other than unlocks for maps and killing time while the game loads. They could have just gotten away with that with a single FOTC Shuttle
