I beg to differ on the shot gun part they already do enough damage you just need to be close to your enemy, remember shotgun not sniper and if you do the cheap shotgun/melee combo you have nothing to worry about in close range. And for the snipers there are suppose to be two shot to kill and actually some of the lower snipers are thee to the body and two to the head so again snipers are fine where there at too.

  • But that's just it, you shouldn't have to be within punching range to use any gun effectively, it defeats the purpose of a gun. And you say if you use the cheap combo you'll be fine, but none of these guns should be cheap or gimmicky, they should just be better balanced. It should be a two shot weapon from 5 to 20 feet, and instant within punching range, but not lunging range. And people run around with snipers and use them like shotguns, if they keep it as it is eventually all people are going to use is a sniper, how is that a fun PvP experience? And yes, throwing knives are excellent I use them often, but saying that a melee weapon does better at range than a range weapon (short range but still range) is well.. contradictory.

  • You must of had some bad time in the beta because I've been and have one shotted with shotguns pretty far away and if it doesn't isnsta kill them it takes down there shield and a considerable amount of health and the second follow up shot is the kill with a shotgun and if your killed by the snipers in close range you REALLY have to be in there face b/c snipers in this game can't quick scope and I have only had a few games where there was more than one/ two people tops with a sniper. Im usually the one with snipers. the three medium maps only have certain lines of site for snipers. The moon map is the only one were you can really sniper people from extreme range and you have to have some skill because at long ranges it's easy to just jump in the builds or behind rocks. The two class of weapons are balanced bra.

  • Come to think of it it could be lag then, but there have been numerous times I've traded with a sniper in the hallway leading to flag B on shores of time and lost.(both of us got off one shot)

  • I don't know man. I just didn't find much issue with any of the weapons. I just got a little ticked when I got shotgun beatdown. But that's just me. people that use the shotgun will bitch at me for saying it annoying though. But I can kind of feel your thing with snipers b/c I feel a little bit the same about shotguns.

  • Oh I get it too, I'd trade hits with another shotgun and lose while they're down to maybe half a health bar, that's with using the copperhead and outcast shotguns. I think there is either inconsistency or lag at play. If its the former it really needs to be changed, as for snipers I think they should work like greatbows do in Dragons Dogma, highest damage at long and mid range but reduced damage at close range. I don't remember seeing people run around with a sniper at close range in halo but maybe my memory is a little fuzzy.

  • They do have damage reductions for range on snipers like bullet drop almost but instant of the bullet missing it just does less damage.

  • Huh.. Then the only thing I can think of is the guns either not working as designed or lag abuse, because I don't even remember seeing an animation done for the close range sniper kills...

  • What do you mean animation? Do you mean the bullet being shot and connecting to the target in that case then yeah that was the net code for the beta it was glitch but like I said that was the coding for the beta.

  • That's exactly it, they never left the running animation with the gun down. Though it was only a beta so hopefully it'll be fixed for the retail version..

  • Yeah I hope so too, I don't think that bothers me as much as the (almost) only thing you can run in the crucible who his the shotgun auto rifle combo. I tried using the fusion, pulse rifle, hand cannon. They don't work. if your good enough with the sniper and the scout rifle they also can be some other weapons you can throw in there. But other than that you can't use the other weapons.

    I use scout rifle effectively enough but I only use it in open areas that make shotguns sitting ducks and to kill snipers and vehicles. Pulse has too much of a kick to use for effective head shots and hand canons need a general power buff or a body shot buff. I mean it should be like comparing a .45 magnum to an A1 given the ammo, reload and stability, let alone the bold move of calling it a hand canon instead of a hand gun.

  • I use the scout rifle too. I'm good with my head shot accuracy, for the most part. And than I usually use a sniper but on the close range maps I do the shotgun melee (annoying) combo. I stoop to that level lol, but I think they should reduce the recoil on the pulse rifles and increase it a little more for auto rifles and SOMEHOW make hand cannons good for PvP. Though I so love to do some hunter roll play with the hand cannon and sniper in PvE( boss battle are different).

  • I don't use snipers because it feels redundant to me in the small maps when you have a scout rifle, and the fusion rifles charging time always throw me off. I guess half the reason I'm miffed about shotguns is that they absolutely such in PvE where as snipers are great at everything. I'm looking forward blade dancer though, I'm more of a stalking hunter than a waiting one. Which reminds me, have you noticed a difference between high and slow speed stats?

  • I think you meant to say sucks in PvP, I think shotguns are fine however that's just me though And yeah I can't wait for blade dancer. That is going I be my all time favor subclass and most used. I like to ability to play a little bit more stealth with some of the abilities or I can go and be an all powerhouse of close range melee. That's why I like the hunter so much he is great as long range with the gunslinger and great in close range with the blade dancer. I also can't wait to see what his third subclass will be. And for the whole speed stats I have noticed a little bit in the jump height but for running it seems as if the op titans run just as fast as I do and jump as high as I do but with the added bonus of getting more armor which irritates me a little. So nope not much a difference in the speed have I noticed.

  • I thought as much on the speed subject.. In my opinion hunter should have best speed, Titan best armor and warlock best recover, but yeah Titan is a bit OP at the moment. As far as the shotgun thing it was only as effective as a normal primary gun for me, but then again I always got headshots on the AI with primary guns so I guess that's to be expected.

  • Yeah I have some crazy/ stupid moments that I've been killed by titans. Oh and the fact that one game some guy did all in, in his armor and it took 3 melee to kill him... Wtf? Really and the fact that they get even more health when they use there super which is also a little be op/ or just buggy b/c I've gotten killed through and around walls and even when I was double jumping in the air to evade his ground attack. Which just so happened to kill me in the air.

  • Yeah but the hunter swarm grenade was useless Plus his throwing knife is okay but could use more base damage. The only way you could get good damage if you get a head shot. And I think the golden gun is balanced your venerable while your pulling it so you can be easily killed unlike the Titan who gets more health with his super which is op. I can't wait to use the tripwire grenades for the gunslinger. And the second subclass for the hunter in-general. I'm just so excited for this game lol.

  • They said I believe 22 missions 4 strikes 1 raid and 4 explores I might be wrong about only 4 strikes but u think it's one per planet.

  • 22missions doesn't seem like a whole lot when you look at how quickly you can complete Russia... I hope they really ramp up the PvP and make it as extensive as I remember halo 3 being, tbh Forge was my favorite part.

  • I think there is more because there was also supposed 33 mission but I don't know we'll just have to wait for the full game. And that is the challenging part. I'm having extreme destiny withdraw right now. It's like taking cigarets away from a chain smoker.

  • Yeah I know what you mean, I always loved bungie's games but the Xbox itself just wasn't for me. The only thing I didn't like about the missions was that the scenery looked a little repetitive to me, didn't quite feel like a new place.

  • I like the Xbox because it was my first console I got both the original Xbox and the ps2 but I have over all preferred the box in all of its generations 360 and one included. I'm still so psyched for the game. I love to play gb's and competitive games and this feels like it could be a very interesting competitive came to get into for the PvP side of things. Plus I love rpg's and mmo's so this game just tops me for hands down favorite game. I really can't wait to just go out there and beef up my character and get all the cool weapons and gear for my hunter.

  • There are so many interesting perks I want to try, like one of the rare helmets I got increased melee attack speed, I wonder if its a noticeable amount, stacks, and works with arc blades, that would be sweet.
