special weapon adjustments

These two weapons seem to be the least balanced from what I've seen, a close range shot does way too much damage too easily, , it defeats the purpose of having another gun as long as you can scope in its a guaranteed 2 hit kill, sniper rifles should be a gun that shows your skill and accuracy at range, not an end all weapon that has no weaknesses, it should be balanced to do excellent at long range, decent and mid range and bad at close range. The shotgun, on the other hand, has less range than a throwing knife and just double jumping up and shooting someone right below you from above has diminishing damage, this is a serious issue. A shotgun's original design was shooting birds out of the sky, giving it such limited range is a joke, at the very least call it a blunderbuss if you're not going to change the range and damage on it.

  • How can you say the shotgun needs a damage boost and a sniper a nerf? Real snipers can penetrate thick armor and turn humans into pink mist. I agree with your shotgun range, they don't shoot far enough in the game

    • Well.... do you want to look at it realistically... because if so, then the sniper rifle's damage is pretty much justified. Most real-life snipers do MORE damage than any game has shown. And for shot-guns being too damaging at range... that's common sense. Take a slug or bird-shot, it would blow a massive hole through you at at least 5 meters, so being right up on them SHOULD be devastating. But given it's effectiveness on a large, armoured, protected person... it's half justified. It should do more damage at a greater range, but a kill shouldn't be guaranteed at 10-20 meters given the level of armour the enemies wear. Now, if the Hive were to receive a weakness to shot-guns... then we'd be getting somewhere. And about the skill and accuracy thing... it does show. It's shown through the "precision kill" stats. You also receive more points for head-shots.

      • While it seems intuitive to limit a shotgun's range to make it balanced, Bungie should have learned from some of its previous games (Halo 3) that ultranerfing shotguns (or maulers) has one significant downside: it makes them absolute camping weapons. The only viable way to use a shotguns that deal no damage past spitting range is to crouch off the radar and wait for someone to round a corner.

        • Shotgun from Halo 1 please. That one had a good balance of damage at close range but still useful at short-mid range. Instead most games seem to go the route of 1-shot potential at melee range but feather tickler at even 5-10m.

          • Yea but if you know anything about real guns bird shot( what's used to shoot birds) isn't effective on people at long range. And buck shot which is effective on people doesn't have as far of range.

            • i agree the about most of that the fusion riffle does way to much damage and is way to accurate on a hip fire and its hit detection is really off as you can turn while in the middle of firing and it the projectiles will still conect and kill the target and not talking bout the charge talking bout the initial fire of the gun where the projectiles should already be on a set course the shotguns range is very wonky yes i said wonky you can 1 shot someone 10 feet in front of you but if you do it again with the same person same position you now all of a suden get different damage and it dont even take down half there hp fix that before even looking at ragne fix one problem before making new ones sniper could be fixed simply adding more recoil calling for more precision shots i have sen alot of video with snipers and a lot of bs kills if you slow down the footage the bullet should never even have hit the person or even killed themi think stabiliity should focus scope sway not recoil also make there the animation to chamber the next round longer and snipers would be ballenced just fine as there damage is perfect 1-2 shots body 1 head just right

              • I beg to differ on the shot gun part they already do enough damage you just need to be close to your enemy, remember shotgun not sniper and if you do the cheap shotgun/melee combo you have nothing to worry about in close range. And for the snipers there are suppose to be two shot to kill and actually some of the lower snipers are thee to the body and two to the head so again snipers are fine where there at too.
