I hear rumors there's only 1 explorable location per planet confirmed by DeeJ, but that's incorrect
When DeeJ said himself "We're calling them DESTINATIONS, you go to Mars, you go to the Moon, you go to Venus, you got Earth." Do we go outside the solar system? "Not so far... we reveal everything you'll explore in the first version of the game."
Where does this confirm only one explorable location for each planet?
Anyone ever notice that when you're viewing the map of old Russia there is a circle to the left with 3 smaller orb objects inside the circle that look like the Earth, and it looks like it has the rotate symbol indicating you can choose to pick a different map. Also, did anyone forget the rusted land map from the crucible? That map is NOT from Old Russia, but from the Eastern Flood Zone.

Look at the bottom it clearly says Eastern Flood Zone, Earth, confirming at least 2 different locations on Earth.
People are too quick to jump the gun.

I also heard rumors of going to Chicago and some other places on Earth. Anyway, we will see in Sept. anyways, just over a month.

2 RepliesThe man does have a point... When we are at say the Skywatch it says Skywatch Old Russia, Earth DeeJ was kinda vague, so perhaps its just one explore, per destination. A destination would be like Old Russia. Explore mode isn't going to be called Destination, that wouldn't make sense.

The way it'll play out is the way it's been in beta where players need to follow the story line first then the explorable areas will be unlocked. Most likely we won't get to explore the other areas of Earth (or other planets) until the story leads us there. So far the planets or "destinations" as they so call them which are revealed are Earth and the Moon, Mars, Venus as well as Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter and some of their Moons so even if they each only had one explorable area, that's actually a good number.

Agreed. It's simply a false speculation. People just jump to conclusions immediately. In my opinion there is no possible way that there's no other locations on Earth. I choose to believe the more positive speculations about Old Chicago and the forest location. On the Bungie website it shows 3 different Earth location pictures. I'm thinking at least 3 large area's on Earth and most likely every other planet. Bungie seriously needs to put this to rest and release a statement with even a small amount of info. Too many negative thinking, negative publicity and negative speculation caused by the public. A lot of people cancelling their pre orders because of ignorance.

3 RepliesNo one at Bungie ever said there was more than 1 explore location per planet. It sucks though that they made a bunch of concept art for interesting locations, especially on Earth, and what do they do? They Make all the explore locations expansive deserts with a few abandoned buildings. I never liked Old Russia to begin with, I thought it was dreadfully dull, and lifeless (which I suppose is the intention) but knowing that is all we see of Earth is a let down.

Agreed, dear lord Deej is a community manager, and he was asked a question on a Twitch live stream through skype, and the question was barely legible. He was answering by stating the number of PLANETS playable and didn't say a damn thing about playable areas.

20 RepliesThey said multiplayer maps do not come from campaign. Otherwise where is the Old Russia map? Rust lands does not confirm anything. You know what does? Download size. Beta and alpha differ in size by about 6 gigs. The final game is ~40. 40/6 = 6.6. That means there are max 4 more places to explore other than Old Russia and The Moon. Since The tower will become larger, more MP maps, 2 strikes at Mars and Venus and a raid, it is safe to assume the only additional places will be Mars, Venus, and the Reef. You get to explore one location on Earth, Moon, Venus, Mars, and Reef. I'll necro this when the game is released.

20 RepliesDude I'm sorry but you're stupid, that "Rusted lands" is a multipayer map. They even said "we're making mupltiplayer maps from scratch, not reusing places in Destiny's story." This is just a mutliplayer map, there is no Eastern Flood Zone explorable, I'm sure. If that's the case, then we're is the Old Russia multiplayer map?? I believe there are more places on Earth to but come on, this post is just ridiculous man.

3 RepliesOne huge location is great. When the moon was open I got completely lost in the lower depths for almost the entire time after doing the mission the first time through. If there are 3 or four other worlds that are that big and deep, I'd say my $99 was a great investment. No telling how many countless hours of joy I'll get out of this. Heck, CoD Ghosts cost $100 for the maps and everything and they're combined probably not as big as Destiny will be from day 1.

3 RepliesLater in the stream he said that every crucible map will be an explorable location in campaign. Rusted Lands is in the European Flood Zone. There's a map in the Twilight Gap, which is between the walls of the Last City. Also, Exodus Blue is an Earth crucible map. We're definitely getting more than one location per planet.

5 RepliesAll these people finding excuses to preserve the possibility they're going to release a massive game for only 60 bucks. We haven't heard of any of the concept arts making it into the final build; even if they are, some are only lore. Even if they don't come out and say "hey there's only 4 maps to explore," assuming the game is going to have like 20 massive maps is even more unrealistic. We'll find out at release. Some people are still buying into the hype way too much.

Well I mean they talked about exploring Chicago and all of its watery goodness a long time ago. Think they would have had a "rip" like they did with Reaches squirrel. But it's base game, with two "expansion packs" so there will be more added. It's the first in the series, I'm not expecting some masterpiece just yet. More like testing the water.

I seem to recall them saying we would explore the "buried skyscrapers of Old Chicago." I don't think thats accurate.
