Is this unfair?
I'm just wondering if anybody else finds this a little unfair for xbox players. I mean, the ps4 had the alpha available to them, they also get four more days than the xbox players. Don't you think the play station beta should only just have four days as well?

Playstation owners never had a Halo game to play ever, it was a Microsoft exclusive franchise ever since Combat Evolved (maybe PC got some, i can't remember). anyway, this is a new franchise with a new partnership, and its not like Xbox owners have to buy a PS3 or PS4 to play Destiny, they just have to wait it out a bit for some timed exclusives to hit the marketplace just like every game with bonus or pre-order content these days. as for the beta, i guess it's just a part of the contract they signed to be able to get all that cash they've needed to attempt to make such an ambitious game. i'm a 360 owner, and i'm happy that i've been allowed to play this thing even for a few days before it's comes out mere weeks later. we should all be happy we're actually getting to play it even for a short time and helping to shape the final release in a few more weeks :)

2 RepliesThis game was made to help move PS4 sales as many of the biggest planned titles seem to all be quite a ways off. Pretty much it was all about money and business. Sony pushed hard for exclusive while Microsoft is still hurting from its pre Xone press releases that apparently still haunt it. Titanfall winding up not being a big seller like I think they hoped did not help so this seriously was just a sound investment for Sony. So many titles are being released for both systems now that MS and Sony are trying harder to pay for exclusive content because its cheaper than forking over billions for an exclusive title that may turn out to be junk.

At best you get to try a stable game, and runn the risk of Burn-out before realese. At worst you dont get in beta at all. ( go Ask old time mmo players,,, from a time when geting in to beta wass based on luck... And the beta was a beta.... )

1 ReplyI just don't care. I have both PS3 and XB 360, and an XB1 (that I can't play yet... long story). Ordered Destiny for 360, as I prefer XB. Exclusive content and extra time given to PS means absolutely nothing to me. Been a Bungie fan since Marathon. Longer than a huge portion of this community's members have been alive. Still not upset about any of it. Fairness has nothing to do with business. And that's what's going on here. Business. This is just a game. There's nothing inherently important about a game unless you're making/selling it. There are much more important things in life to worry about than who gets what for a game.

2 RepliesIt's unfair by construction. Activision invited Microsoft and Sony to throw massive amounts of cash at them in exchange for deliberately making it unfair. Same thing with most AAA releases nowadays, whether it be timed exclusives for systems (e.g. Destiny, CoD) or pre-order bonuses from different retailers. Sony want the PS4 to be the place gamers truly think of as the 'home of Destiny', thus they threw more money at Activision than Microsoft did. Either way, nothing to do with Bungie, who don't actually have any control over this kind of distribution partner stuff.

2 RepliesWell bungie originally had the halo series which NEVER came to playstation. Yet you get still get destiny and all the dlc's eventually so stop complaining. I do hate it when companies do this as its unfair to those who dont have that console but its a business and its definately not only bungie doing this.

It's also unfair that Xbox gets a stike mission, competitive map, gear and ships removed from their version of the game for about a year or however long it's exclusive for. That's the point... Curious as to who is voting for the fair option seeing as this is unfair by definition - not really anything to discuss. Sony want their console to look more desirable and that doesn't happen if things are fair.

I have to admit I'm getting so tired of these posts. Even if it was the most unfair thing ever in the history of unfair things it's too late now to matter. That said we've no idea why the beta was arranged this way. Maybe bungie needed more time on a less familiar environment, maybe they needed to stage the beta startup and ps won the coin toss , maybe sony paid them lots of money or bungie are putting the boot in to MS or maybe it's a huge conspiracy to defraud of us of all the money we didn't pay them to get in the beta. At this point it just doesn't matter any more. And suggesting that they simply truncate the beta for ps players at zero notice depriving them of whatever final day fun events bungie have planned makes you sound really imature and bitter. This is a rant, I probably shouldn't post it, but what's the internet for if not to get things off your chest :)

Remember the issues with Rare and Nintendo. This happens, has happened, and will happen again. Next month it will be a game on xbox coming out first blah blah blah. The Only people that whine about the "fairness" of it are kids. Kids that don't want to understand big gaming companies and the bottom line. Play station obviously gave bungie a truckload of money for TEMPORARY exclusivity. This in turn means more money for bungie staff a happy worker is a productive worker. Better games for everyone.
