Might be switching to ps4 but I need some advice.

So I'm thinking that I might be able to switch to ps4 from xbox 360 at least financially. I know there are a ton of you that have switched. So I was wondering what it's like to switch from the 360 controller to the playstation controller. In the past, I have really hated playstation controllers, but is the DS4 any better? Any advice would be really helpful.

  • Honestly I didn't like the xbox controllers. Always liked the DS3 but it's a lot better than both. And a tip, the DS4 has a tendency to get slippery (at least for me) because of the sweat when you play. I have to constantly wipe the handles off with my shirt.

  • You will adjust in less than a week. As for any advice; be careful with the left thumbstick. Because I am used to the 360 controller I often accidentally hit the touchpad when I hold the stick forward.

  • Halo is the only thing keeping me from selling my Xbox one, that and titanfall(yes I like running on walls, weird)

    • DS4 is definitely a step up from the DS3. The wider controller fits a lot better in my large hands. I also prefer it to the Xbone controller as it just feels too cramped. But the 360 will always have one of the better controllers. Also, be prepared to not be bombarded with ads constantly.

I switched from 360 to ps4. The dual shock 4 is close to the 360 controller( not as good but close enough) the controls are exactly like the 360 except for 1 thumbstick. P.s.I hated the ps3 controller. Dual shock 4 is 2nd best all time behind 360 one.

      • I made the 360 to ps4 switch really easily the controller is grippy and the thumb sticks are well placed you might want to get some joystick caps from acidic gaming ther like 10 bucks but overal a great switch and very eazy i would buy 2 ds4 controllers cause of battery or just all day gaming.

      • Tried it out for a bit. Big change when using the PS4's controller. I still hope 3rd party controllers come out that are modeled after the 360's controller. The touchpad might be something weird to put on that... Unless those types of controllers are already out.

      • You'll have no problems. Honestly the name "Dualshock 4" is a bit misleading as the controller is such a departure from the Dualshock 3. If you live near any electronic stores or Gamestop's there's a good chance that they'll have a demo kit out. You could always see for yourself rather than asking us.

        • The DS4 is far better than the DS3. It has nice comfortable gripping material, the analog sticks are on par with the 360, D-pad is excellent and smooth, the triggers very sturdy and most fingers fit nicely when using them. I also think the additions are pretty neat, the lightbar, touchpad, and speaker. Although the battery life is despicable. Since I went over the DS4 controller I might as well go over the XB1 controller too, as I find it a bit better in a number of areas. The ergonomics are amazing, I find it to more slide into your hands than just grabbing it and holding it, it feels tight, like you have control over every little thing you do. The analog sticks may feel weird for a bit, or you might not be as good with them as the previous system, but once you spend a sizable amount of time with them you get to realize how much room of motion there is and how precise they are in comparison to other gamepads, I have never been able to aim so accurately when playing shooters for example, because I have so much control over the sticks. The d-pad is solid, it gives a satisfying click with each press. The buttons are bigger but more shallow, so you can hit them a bit better. Triggers re the best I have ever seen on a controller, your fingers come up and curve onto them and the haptic motors in them really add to the game. The best examples thus far are Forza and Watch_Dogs. The battery life is astonishing. And as for the bumpers, they are a bit hard to press down, but that is about it. You really can't go wrong either way.

          • Pros: The PS4 controller is bigger than previous DualShock models. It's definitely more spaced horizontally to fit the touchpad. This was a concern for me, as I am a big guy with very large hands. The newer triggers for L2/R2 will be familiar enough coming from LT/RT. The sticks have recessed contoured grips like the Xbox sticks. This is good, as old DualShock sticks used to slip for me. Touchpad is actually kinda useful sometimes. Cons: The controller light was annoying at first in the dark, but I got used to it. You can dim it in options now though. Had to get used to the D-pad placement, took a couple weeks to undo instinct and muscle memory. The Share and Options buttons are flush with the controller. Takes some getting used to.

I suggest replacing the default thumbsticks with aftermarket aluminum ones, best decision ever.

              • Well. The DS4 controller is by no means BAD, in fact it's pretty good. I think I still prefer the 360 controller, but maybe with more time that will change. I'm still not convinced about non-staggered sticks, but they do work fine. The D-Pad is SUPER GOOD (as is always the case with playstation d-pads), and it has a pretty good overall feel in the hands. Buttons are fairly crisp too.

DS4 is really fun. Also Infamous: SS, and kinda TLOU: Remastered. DualShock4 is nothing different to DualShock3 except with a touch pad. It's also compatible with the X360 controller. Oh god no!!
Please don't tell me you're doing this for Density.
DS4 has become my favorite controller. I hate playing my 360 now because the controller feels so weird.

                    • it was really easy to transition to the DS4. my hand did cramp up once while playing the beta, but nothing like what it used to when using the PS3. that was just painful.

                    • The DS4 is the best one yet. I admit i struggles a bit at first coming from 360 but that quickly went after 20-30 mins

                    • Yes, it feels really good. I can switch between Xbox 360 and Playstation 4 controllers anytime, even in Battleblock Theater, an Xbox game that requires fast paced movement with joysticks and such.

                    • The DS4 is easily on par with the 360 controller. I mean the X1 controller is still better than both, it's like liquid in your hands, but the DS4 is probably my second favourite controller of all time.

DS4 is pretty sweet. Stick tension feels about the same as the Xbox 360 controller, way tighter than the DS3. Controller size is also pretty comparable. It'll take you all of 30 minutes to get used to the symmetrical thumbsticks.
