What is a good reason to join a clan?

Discuss. Personally, I like knowing that old friends will be there to play with me when life allows for sone trigger time.

  • I think having people you are comfortable with and have fun gaming with is the biggest reason to join a clan. I have met people who are great to game with..................and a few not so great..............but the "brotherhood" you form after gaming with a group for weeks, months and sometimes years is a great thing.

Some trophies/achievments can only get gotten by being in a strike and raid with clan members only. I'm sure that's going to be a reason for some people. I enjoy the socialization myself

    • Well, I can say this, from some of the people I've met, there are quite a few military bubbas out there and so some of those fireteams are going to be tactical as hell. Can't wait to here "Clear!" shouted out after dishing out some pain...not really but you get the point. Wonder though if "talking guns" would work in this game, seeing as that some of the enemies give off that suppressed vibe when you shoot at them (constantly hiding behind a pillar as you shoot at it) allowing someone to walk up and melee them.

For me it would be making new friends. I do not really get out much if at all where I live so making a clan is the perfect opportunity for me to make new friends

      • It makes it easier to get a group of people together and also helps get groups going if you have a set of people that play together. Also to build a bunch of reliable people to play with. Check us out we are the Bearded Legion. Plus it's cool to have a clan name with your character.

A good reason to join a clan is to be a part of smaller community growing within a bigger gaming community. Clans start out small and sometimes a Clan isn't just the right name for an organization. Clans feel more like factions and groups of people that share one opinion or heritage. I advertise my group, Lagiacrus, as a clan because that's what the community wants to call it. I enjoy having and hosting several people from across this nation and the world in my "clan". They bring all kinds of perspectives, thoughts, jokes, and daily life into our conversations. Whether it's listening to an Irish man tell us his life story or someone from India or anywhere else in the world show us what it's like to be in there shoes. With this a "clan" grows into more of a family that feels more like a "guild" without too much posterity. Just a community of people that want to enjoy themselves. That is why I'm always challenging threads that say Clans are childish or Groups that want to impress an elitist attitude on the community by pretending to be what they are not. A false cause. At least you know inside that this group of people will be there to listen to you or just spend time laughing together. Playing by yourself just sucks. It's a hot summer and you're bored because no one wants to talk to you or make it fun for you. Some join Clans for the bloodthirst of Clan Wars, some for the meaning of their clan, and some just because they want to show off their brains over brawn. These are some of the reasons to join a clan. That's what Lagiacrus stands for. Please do look at my page and give it a look over. You won't be disappointed, so please do not mock it's current size. Even with one the pride is stronger than most. I come from all genres of video games. MMO's, RPGs, FPSs, etc. http://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/126167

      • Personally, DeeJ, I think the best reasons are to make new friends and have a great time with them. A lot of clans are too serious about being top of the leaderboards these days.

      • it really depends on the person, in my case it's finding people who want to explore the Destiny lore and universe while having fun. No matter if you're winning or losing, you should be laughing.

      • Well Deej the best reason, in my opinion, for joining a clan in Destiny is for having fellow Guardians to help complete the Raids of various difficulty and length of time to complete. For myself, a generation X'er, married, with children and a career, it may be a challenge. Although I'm currently promoting a group that I founded, Angelic Order Araleem, that I'm eventually going to upgrade to a clan once enough members are a part. So essentially since a clan can communicate playtime schedules, organized raids can be ventured into, deciphered of challenges or obstacles & victoriously completed. Maybe not in the first try but with regrouping and talking, strategies can be formulated. Lastly Deej I've heard that you are a part of a clan. Will you still be active with them. I anticipate your response.

      • I agree with Binarygeek I think more of having fun and enough the game, that why my clan is not a serious as other clan that are it is just a game and not life after all. I like to have fun and knowing am helping other player with raids, strikes, or whatever their need be is enough for me as a clan leader it isn't easy

        • Our members, will be guaranteed backup when needed, always informed of Bungie news and upcoming patchworks, preparation is key. Daily active members for raid encounters and exploration, they will never feel alone. Pre-mission briefings on engaging tactics. Most importantly to build a good friendship and to make out most of the game as possible with the best of vibes.

I came for some Fireteam members, but I stayed for the dozen or so friends I've made as a proud member of the Vanguardians over the course of a year waiting for Destiny to drop. Thank you for making a game that lead me to this opportunity I and my fellow Vanguardians eagerly await our chance to Become Legends in 33 days.
