I have been an Xbox user since the beginning. I got the original Xbox with Halo 2 for Christmas in 2003 at the age of 14. I have played countless games over my years, but none more than the Halo ones released by Bungie. Halo 2 was my favorite! I enjoyed tons of Bungie content whether it be DLC, vidoes, podcasts, or their weekly updates with Mister Chief. It has been over 10 years of me supporting Bungie, but I do feel shafted and ditched by them.
I bought an Xbox One because I knew that Destiny and Bungie's ex-employee studio, 343, will be making games for it. I understand that Bungie is trying to appeal to Playstation users who may have no idea about Bungie. I also understand a business decision that Activision might have forced upon them, but you would think if Bungie really cared about their Xbox fans, they would have pushed for more for them. Then again they could just be giving Microsoft the finger. But punishing Bungie fans with Xbox consoles, who have no say at Microsoft, is probably not the best tactic for Bungie.
Bungie is said to have used $500M in developing Destiny. They need this game to be a hit. I do not know how shafting and ignoring your loyal fanbase with Xbox consoles is going to do that. Hardcore gamers are what drives business. They buy the DLC and the special editions for the extra money. New customers are not going to do that. I think Bungie is banking on their loyal fans to drive sales in Xbox, but will it work?
But it is all fine for me. Watching Sony's E3 and seeing all the stuff that Playstation owners are going to get exclusively was very upsetting. I have my pre-order for Destiny which I considered refunding at first, but I will give it a try. Destiny comes out in September so I will get it and play it. If their Sony favoritism is still present come November, you can consider me done with Bungie. At this point, I see Destiny as a holdover game until the Master Chief Collection comes out.
I hope your new customer base is as loyal and dedicated as the one you shafted Bungie!
