Food for Thought

Edit: I hope some of you guys at bungie read this as well and know that we still love you guys Now I know everyone is upset and I get that, there are also those at bungie who are also upset and don't forget those guys either. What I don't think a lot of people thought about was that there was an agreement between the Board and Marty to be quiet about this. If there is nothing good to say then sometimes saying nothing is the best response. I still love Marty, but I also still love Bungie. Those working at the studio are fueled by the community's love for them and their projects. We are the reason they put so much pressure on themselves because we hold them in a high regard. Plus I'm sure that Marty wouldn't want to see this long standing community collapse overnight because he was terminated. The interactions that Urk and Deej have with the community are some of the special things about bungie. So stop the hatred for bungie. The best thing to do is to support Marty if you are upset by this. He has seen so many messages about how his music has changed peoples lives and I'm sure he is so thankful for that. To Deej and Urk I'm so sorry that you have to deal with all of the tension in the community at the moment and I hope you realise that it isn't directed towards you guys. You've done a great job for us for a very long time and we are so thankful for that. To the community please understand that this isn't a black and white thing. Bungie is still bungie and Marty is still Marty. It's obvious that whatever happened is personal. There is a difference between transparency and being a busy body. We don't need to know the exact reasons behind this. All we should take note is that it was personal. If it was any other circumstance the community would be told right away and it's partly from their respect for Marty that they don't say anything about it. Just everyone needs to be a bit more mature about this now. The initial shock is over. I was confused and angry on the first day I heard the news, but now I've calmed down and had time to think through things logically in my head. So to anyone feeling angry just take a few days off the forms. Collect your thoughts and relax knowing that Marty will be fine and that bungie is making a great game for us.

  • Disagree. I've had time to think about this and still feel this was wrong on Bungie's part. You don't fire one of your best and not explain why. Did he commit a criminal act? If so, then say something about it. If not, then why fire him? It's not complicated, it shouldn't be personal (unless the ones doing the firing were offended by Marty's personal beliefs), so why not explain it? The fact you're willing to let this go so easily shows your care more about getting instant gratification from a game than caring about the people that labored to make that game. Will Destiny be a great game? Maybe. But would you still buy a game from a company if it fired all the good people and retained those with a criminal history even though game was still good? If so, then you have no principles and I feel sorry for you.

    • I'm thinking it had something to do with the actual music production, he said himself that it was hard to make music to a game that didn't exist. Until they say so, we won't know why. Might as well be patient, not like we aren't used to it by now.
