I would like to say 2 really obvious things before we dive into this no-brainer subject.
1) Well of course, they're x86.
2) They (console gamers) called us (PC gamers) crazy, but we were right, as was Linus. (Video above)
You might think emulators only exist for retro consoles, and for the most part that's true, but we might some day be seeing PS4 and Xbox One games - regardless of the legality of the move - on a PC near you.
For the last decade or so, emulating new console games has been almost impossible. Xbox 360 and PS3 code was so unique to their respective consoles, and required such a degree of computing power from a PC, that no working emulators for either console were ever released.
But speaking with Slashdot, software engineer Ben Vanik - who builds emulators in his spare time - says that the newest console's decision to stick to a very PC-like architecture, with x-86 chips and AMD graphics processors, means that this could soon change.
"It would be easier to create a PS4 or Xbox One emulator within the next year or so than it would be to create a PS3 or Xbox 360 emulator that ran at the speed of the device," he says.
I have already stated the obvious, but let's still talk about this anyways. Since the new consoles are x86, it'll make developing an emulator for them MUCH easier than ever before, and ALSO because they're x86 based, whenever an emulator for the consoles are made, they won't require an insane hardware setup to run. You will probably just need a PC with the equivalent specs of an Xbox One and PS4. (Which isn't that hard and you can build a computer of the same hardware tier for fairly cheap.)
Thoughts on current-gen console emulation?

Even if this never happens, people will still wonder why companies like Microsoft want DRM tech, and companies like Sony create the technology. Even if it doesn't happen, the fact that someone dreams this up makes their I.P. Attorney's buttholes pucker. It's shit posts like this one that makes company's feel DRM is necessary. And it's because of ass-hats like this, that I agree with them.

While I know your mostly here to rustle jimmies. I will say this. This is why publishers/developers want DRM (some of them). Because of people that do this.
-
I guess you missed the part where it says "could".
-
Will these emulators allow PC's to run the discs? or would they have to download the game files? I have no real issues with this as long as it is played off a disc.
-
So I can turn my Windows 8 rig into an Xbone? i like dis

You're the reason we can't have nice things
-
Don't care and never will to be honest.
-
My thoughts are that it is still illegal, even though it might be easier (I honestly don't think it will be as easy as you think).
So would this make it possible to play the entirety of MGS5 on one system, taking the exclusives from ps4 and the bone and putting them together?
-
That's sweet, but with more and more online integration, it will be useless for games like Destiny.

So people are going to play H5 on PC for free.

Let's see how long it takes them. The PS3 emulation was a disaster. They finished it so late an it couldn't even run decently.

Cool, saves me some money
