Two personal notes on the POLL resaults: 1 vote Is I, Squizzlors a Vote under Undicided, I do not vote for or against myconcept (Sorry cant edit the POLL Sellection) So any one who selected PERHAPS: please justify so with a respose of what tweaks you think nead to be made. thank you [Summery of Concept] know its allot of text ahead, LEGACY ITEMSread for further Detail! A players own Legendary weapon created by them and unique to them! Customized, to fit the aperience that adheres to you, an extention of yourself! They will be an Ode to your character and their adventures, perhaps even having unique trophy parts, and paint jobs to earn and sport upon them! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I first came up with this idea playing borderlands. While playing you find all these randomized guns, and then and again you stumble across one you really like in appearance - power whatever the case later levels of the game it becomes utterly useless. I'm sure any one who's played either borderlands 1/2 can relate to this situation. Now you may at This point be asking, "what is your point?" And to that i answer, destiny too uses such a randomized weapon assembly! There will be guns you enjoy that will be outdated at some point it happens in all RPGs. However I have a solution an Idea I call Legacy Items! [Legacy Items] The concept is Each guardian is allowed one Legacy Item to take one of any weapons heavy or light, in there invitory and make it a personal weapon that defines them. Maybe you like this weapon, for what it dose, the damage, or it just Looks neat? The player then can take this weapon and rename it to fit Them becoming a unique weapon! Then the player can put money into his new legacy item. -customization\upgrades Putting money into your Legacy item will be posable through the regular weapons store in game, were you can take your gun and for a price swap out weapons parts from the randomized weapon parts to change its appearance to your liking! Swap barrels, grips, stocks, bodies, sights, clips, and other accessories, Maybe even add paint jobs/textures, possibly emblems? All this making it look as if it were a part Of you. Now the other part would be the ability to actually upgrade your gun. Since the core of this weapon probably will be seen over and over again throughout the game changing possibly a little at higher levels. your gun will be upgraded along that core upping through the levels it varies to fit to the players current level, this of course shall come at a steeper price! Finally unsure how this would work but to make your gun more to your liking the ability at cost and probably special items acquired. Adding new effects to your gun Such as changes in bullet effects, elemental, ammo changes, etc! think of it as your lightsaber from knights of the old republic adjusting your own to be unique by finding artifacts, just in this case far deeper LIMITATIONS -Legacy Items can not be made from Unique (artifacts, Legendary, unique, special) weapons. -Limited to only one Legacy Item per Character(however may sell/toss item allowing them to start over to creat a new one from perhaps a better canvas, Or Different weapon group! If sold old weapon price is set instead to how much you spent into the weapon, which you will recover a lesser percentage then what you put Into it) -Legacy Items cannot be, dropped/Picked up by other players/traded. (Each one will be unique to its Guardian alone) Now for all of you who have read my idea, feel free to comment, give your own thoughts, add your own ideas I hope Bungie will perhaps see this post and concept. perhaps take it under consideration, for perhaps there next tittle. Sorry cant edit the POLL Sellection) So any one who selected PERHAPS: please justify so with a respose of what tweaks you think nead to be made. thank you

  • Someone give this man a medal! This is one of the coolest ideas ive read on this forum in a bit. I get really attached to certain weapons that i want at my side at all times, but evetually it gets to the point where its damage is too low to be effective. I love this idea therefore i love you sir <3

    • I like the idea, yet I want the game first. So, I'm down for a really robust crafting system. I am going to hold off on what should be added until I have time with the experience. Maybe Destiny has a far more robust system than what we currently expect right now. Its truly unknown at this point. Again, I read the ideas you posted about creating a class of super uniques for end game or max level content. I like it, I support it. I'm just asking is it necessary? We have no idea how end game content feels or how it's balanced, if at all. After getting to max level, if I feel there really needs to be an additional tier of weapons, I will be the first to support a petition or your petition demanding bungie work on end game content.

      • I hope that the amount of good loot you get is equivalent to skyrim, that way I can use glimmer to upgrade the legacy weapon while still being able to have other good things

        • Sounds like a sweet idea to me. Balancing may be a problem so maybe your personal armament is restricted to either a Melee weapon or a pistol. Having only one would be great... And make it only once... Never again unless you she'll out mad glimmer to do so. You should be given the opportunity to choose from any/all upgrades available in the game... Obviously folks would be worried about being overpowered but I think it could be balanced IF the weapon gets stronger as you level up. If you make it at the start it'll be low level... But when you reach level 20 it should represent the power you wield at that level. Of course it should be a medium powerful weapon so that ones bought/found in game have the obvious potential to trump the one you made.

            • I was actually thinking about something very similar. I've just started playing Borderlands 2, and I've found I get very attached to certain weapons. I'll use them until it's just not practical anymore because the baddies have all leveled up. I'd really like some kind of system like this.

              • You're a gentleman and a scholar! I would love this if you could just assign a gun to be a legacy weapon and have it level up with you. You could change your legacy gun at will but it will only upgrade if you keep it for until the level up.

              • I thoroughly enjoyed a feature similar to this in SW:KOTOR wherein you could customize your own lightsaber's apearance, attack bonuses & Force enhancements. It'd be cool to see that concept applied to a customization environment as complex as Destiny's claims to be.

I like the idea, however, there is an alternative that I think justifies your means but with a more reasonable end. Instead of finding an already existing gun and personalizing it (because customizing weapons and armor is already supposed to carry a lot of depth), I think that once a Guardian reaches a certain quest line, they should be allowed to craft their own weapon-- from scratch; at a very expensive cost. For example, first you would complete the first part of the quest line which would enable you to select a barrel from a vast array of barrels. Then once you have purchased the barrel the quest line would allow you to move onto the second part which would open up the selection of the trigger mechanism. This would keep going until the weapon is finished; making it your personal weapon. The weapon would automatically start off at set weapon level for all players. This quest line should have depth and take a long time to complete. Customizations -Barrel -Iron sights -Trigger -Firing Mechanism (Single shot, Burst fire, or Automatic/Continuous) -Type of bullets (Plasma, incendiary, laser beam, crystal shards, bullets) -Grip (Handle) -Trigger Guard -Shell of Gun -Stock -Attachments -Texture -Base Color -Any Acquired Weapon Skins -Skill Tree -Level of weapon (Each level will cost Limitations -Can not be traded -Can not be dropped and instead can only be destroyed; with no reimbursement -Can be sold back to the master smith who gave the quest line with a 50% reimbursement (You better think really hard about making the decision to let it go) -Can only be leveled once per Guardian level up and it will come at a costly price (If a Guardian starts the quest line at level 70 and the quest is offered at level 60, the Guardian can catch up the weapon levels) -Only one Personal gun at any point in time

                  • I like this idea. It's like what they did with path of exile, u can remove soul stones which change the stats and effect of a desired weapon. This way when you found one that you loved the looks of, it wasn't useless when u leveled up a few times, you just enchanted it with higher level stones!

                    • Cool concept, I really like the idea of allowing an increase in power of a gun you want to hang on to, whether it's for the look or the story. Although I have a feeling (speculation here) Bungie wants competitive gameplay to be easily/unconsciously clear. Meaning that from the distinct silhouettes of classes and guns to the textures of armors and weapons, in the vast sea of customization options there will be tactical clarity afforded to the experienced player. I might be completely wrong on this, (again, I really like the idea a lot) Hunter's capes (and everything else down to gloves) might be completely customizable unless they're Legendary. But in order to translate to competitive play in an ordered fashion, I'm not sure to what extent this is possible. That being said, I'm a downer, I know; I think it should be implemented because my entire argument is literally based on completely unconfirmed speculation. Great idea, I hope they do it. I love the idea of toting some 'ancient' looking handgun or rifle that is just as powerful as it's next-door-neighbor but has no arcane energy rippling across it until it's fired or primed or what have you. Could be amazing in 'campaign' if they can't do it in multiplayer.

                        • Love the idea. Not sure of I missed this, but if the weapon you like the most has really bad damage stats and such, maybe you could upgrade it. Make a sucky weapon average, that way you'll use it.
