The new Destiny Drawing board for the Conduit F3 has this posted as the tag line at the beginning. “The Future War Cult’s newest addition to its Faction line…“ Tom Doyle, Art Lead I think this takes the theory that the factions are more like corporations to a new level. I believe that you join a faction or rather are employed by a faction to handle certain missions. This employment gives you access to greater ranges of new tech and gear as well as more support from the faction along the lines if future missions. Deej has said that ammo will be a big concern, potentially having a faction affiliation could give you access to a company ammo stock. It also seems more possible that these factions were controlling groups on other planets as humans expanded and colonized the solar system. This would also add to the fact that in the previously mentioned Conduit F3 drawing board the comment was made that the tach was created by turning the enemies weapons against them. Meaning that FWC may have had better access to certain alien tech based on where they were located during the fall and returned to the City with this new found tech to develop the new weapon systems.

  • I hope they are a little more complex then that, Bungie has said they want to lock players into choices for a atleast a little bit, this forces variety and makes the game world better. A Faction system would allow for just that, with there being basic faction gear that anyone can purchase, but then high level gear only loyalist have access to. perhaps faction specific places inside the city as well, like no osiris inside monarchs headquarters and such. As much as this is a social game exclusivity is a huge part of social interactions between people.

I like the idea of them being corporations over them just being groups. You can get hired by these corporations and be rewarded for your service. Perhaps faction wars is more of a testing range where you pit one faction's weapons against another and obtain the ones you tested upon your victory. It makes more sense in a social game. Let's say that you've been playing for a while and you pledged your allegiance to dead orbit, then a friend begins playing but ends up joining new monarchy. If you weren't hired guardians, you and your friend would be doomed to being enemies forever when you play faction wars

  • That would be a really cool way for Bungie to drop new DLC guns and gear, test it out in factions wars and if you like it you could buy it or if you do exceptionally well in combat your faction could discount it or award it to you.
