I think I just realized how awesome Xbox Smart Glass could be

I think I just realized how awesome Xbox Smart Glass could be or any of the tech similar to it. As with many good ideas, I feel like someone somewhere as already came up with this idea so just let me know but... Think of a game like Watch Dogs. How he uses his phone to hack into things. Imagine if we could use Smart Glass on our phone and instead of having it pop up on the screen, we could use our actual phones for stuff like that if we wanted to? Or GTA, we could use our phone in our hand instead of a little pop up on screen. You might say, this is really kind of pointless as you're more aware of what's going on in the game if it's on the screen but still, just look at the concept and how awesome it actually can be. I know Battlefield 4 already showcased some sort of command/ map feature with Smart Glass. Any other games utilizing this feature in a cool way? Or any games you think potentially could?

    • All thanks to Wii U :D Second screen gaming will be big, and best on Wii U. Same for Sony with the Vita and I think they have an app incoming. I am looking forward to features, I just hope that for all but Wii U they stay as additional features. I say that because Wii U's Gamepad is integral to the system, I'd hate to have a game like GTAV or GTAVI only have a menu through the second screen, I hope it never comes to that. For the most part this is only really good for MP unless again, on Wii U since it's part of the controller. Ubisoft seems to be doing great things with second screen/asymmetric gaming. They are leading the charge on it so far.

      • this sounds pretty cool. i mean i'd never use it at the moment because i think Smartglass is a bit pointless and rather gimmickey, just ike 3-D, but given the right context and sufficient dev time yeah it could be pretty awesome.

As long as games are displayed through TVs, I'd rather not have to use peripherals other than the controller to play them. But for AR/VR type games? I'm all for it. On a somewhat related note, I believe they managed to make an App for the iPhone that turns your phone into a laser tag gun. I thought that was interesting, and they can use similar ideas when they better incorporate technology like that behind the Kinect. Right now it's at a very primitive state, and all the games are frankly just uninspired and gimmicky.

      • They should make something like the vita, i have a ps3 and the vita is actually a smart idea, microsoft should look into making something for the One. Vita is actually more made for the ps4 than ps3 tho.

      • How about we don't blow hundreds of dollars on gimicks that wear off after ten minutes and add nothing to the game.

        • In its present form, SmartGlass is pretty useless.

          • Smart glass is already really cool. I use it for my 360. Anyone who says smartglass is stupid obviously has never used it.

          • I only used smart glass as a remote for movies. It's currently useless for anything but checking up on profile and messages.
