Will Destiny have cross platform game-play?

Ever since they announced Destiny, and that it was being released on current and next generation platforms I wondered if you would be able to play with those on a different generation system then yours? Or if it would be possible to play across platform brands, example being XBOX One users could interact in the world with PS4 users? No clue if this has even been brought up, but the first part of that question doesn't seem to far fetched since it was possible to play Halo 2 on a XBOX 360 with people using the original XBOX. Of course the XBOX One isn't backwards compatible with 360 games like the 360 was with the original XBOX titles. So this could be an issue, but still both XBOX 360 & XBOX One users will be using XBOX Live. The other part of my question is probably far fetched. Being able to interact within Destiny with users on a different platform brand. Would it be possible for this? Has Bungie setup b.net to accomplish just that? Is this even something that Microsoft or Sony would allow? This of course is assuming that Bungie will have servers that will be hosting the Destiny universe locally instead of being peer-to-peer. The possibility's that roll through my head when the idea of something like this happening are almost infinite. It would definitely be a huge plus for the game, since it seems to have a heavy emphasis on interacting with others online and the community. Now if this is something that has already been discussed or confirmed, and I did search, my apologies. If not could this be the Bungie master plan for total World Domination?

  • I really really really want this to happen! If anybody can or would do this, it's Bungie! I mean think about this, what kind of sense does it make to have an always on persistent world if it's actually gonna be 4 separate worlds...? Also, we know they have a 10 year plan for Destiny, but the current release is also on last gen hardware. The next release (whether that's a new disc or a huge expansion pack is not clear) probably won't be. There are many people who will play Destiny on their PS3s and 360s. As it's been mentioned before it would be totally stupid to loose all your work because you upgraded consoles. If what they're wanting is an evolving persistent world FPS game it seems like they should only create ONE persistent world, and the console, no matter what brand or generation, is simply the portal through which you access the universe of Destiny. Thoughts?
