Can you be considered a fan even though you've only played one or two games from a developer?

For instance, I consider myself a fan of Halo and Bungie, although I've only really played Halo CE and Halo 2. (Aside from playing Halo 3 and Reach multiplayer at a friend's house.) I've also read a few of the Halo books and have spent an entire day reading Halo lore on the Halo Wiki. I really want to play the other games but I don't have the moolah for a 360 nor could I afford any of the new games. Would you consider a person like me a "true" fan? What classifies a fan to you? Or does it not really matter at all?

  • Before this thread I guessed someone was going to use the "No true Scotsman" fallacy and someone already did. The gaming forum is just too predictable. You can be a fan of one game. A series? Depends. Are you motivated enough to play all the other games? If yes then yes you are if no then no. You are only a fan if you are extremely motivated to play every game in the series. Though, who cares if someone is a fan or not? What really matters if the game is enjoyable and the series is. You could also be a fan of the books and not the games and vice versa.
