Obviously Lasky.
The Didact was a tad cliche, but still an enjoyable villain. The Librarian seemed much older than I was expecting, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I still liked her, though obviously I preferred the Didact with his darker and more complex side.
Del Rio was a great foil to John's dedication, split between Cortana and the UNSC/mankind in general, with the captain instead focussed on doing things by the book. It's a great way to illustrate the balance to be maintained in such settings as these, between the emotional, daring Lasky and John, and the regimen by which the military and the UNSC must abide in order to stay operational and succeed and protect mankind.
John and Cortana... I honestly believe they are the two finest reinventions of game characters I've ever seen, especially John. 343 has made a sublime job of making him not only more relatable, but more motivated in his silent stoicism by knowing that he has to be strong to save mankind and Cortana, which he fails to do, at least in part.
