Here's what I think of you, community.

So a thread about a Community Vidoc made me think about how I view the community. And so... on a whim, I decided to talk to my computer for 15 minutes about what I think about the community, what I've done in the community a little, and what I hope for the community. I don't expect many of you to make it through that. It's boring to just hear somebody drone on and on. I know. But I did want to share my thoughts and my experiences of Bungie.net with you all because I do feel a part of this community, and that vidoc project I saw really hit home. So... curious about burritosenior? The man behind the mustache bomb? Well... there you go. Probably underwhelming, I'm sure. I'm burritosenior. I don't like how high my voice sounds online/on a recording. I am sexy. And yes, I lift. Anybody have thoughts on it? I enjoy droning on.

    • I made it to 3:37, what do I win? I'd much rather see a video of what the community thinks of you, that would be entertaining.

            • Humm i thought you might be a bit older. But who am i to say. I had allot of good times in Halo 3 my self. I wish my old group of friends would come back to play. We grew apart. But my experiences have lead me to also make new friends. I played allot of Halo 3 back in the day. I spent hours forging maps. My friends from that time loved to see what i was doing. So during one Zombie map i came up with the idea that there would be Alpha Zombies. I used Sandbox and i built the map. Many of my friends had there friends join. It was very popular. I had allot of fun. I understand the need to help others as you have seen me put around here. I would like to think Wolverfrog and others who made some awesome fanfics can inspire others as we are in turn inspired by many here. I was in ROTC jr. for a bit in my freshmen year of high school. My father served in the Military. I understand the social dynamics as some of our friends go on with life and on idle. But i am a firm believer in meeting them again one day. I agree that we will loose some here due to changes but we will gain many and the strength of the community is forged in the bonds of brother and sister hood. I figured you would have a mustache. I have been apart of groups such as Writers Corner and understand how one event can change you for the better. Like anything you have to take it with the good and bad. I enjoyed your views and i do not like my voice being played back my self. I am a older guy and seeing the joy in your eyes gave me great hope as i am glad we have members such as you. I hope there will be more. Sometimes we must travel some roads alone but other times our roads converge with others who not only define who or what we are but what we will become. A person lives on in our memories . I have met allot of people. X-box live,B.net In day of defeat, steam friends and my clan. Not to mention World of Warcraft. In real life i have a good buddie and i am always glad to make new friends. I have seen some of the world so i can relate on many levels with you burrito. The Concepts for the community are shaping. Just know that sometimes we cannot get all we need and must move on. It sucks that part no one tells you. Also people have lives but here we can communicate about it. Many come here seeking answers friendship even a place to rest there head from the weary world. This is that place as you Burrito have helped others to see this is not just a web site but a place that lives with vibrancy each day as we all try to make it a welcoming place. Only downside is when a friend gets angry and leaves or old friends move on with life. Yet we must regrettably press on. Do well stay safe and See you here or even in Destiny.

Left a comment on the video, I'm back. Burrito you probably do not remember me, but I remember you, and I'm pretty certain I met you with Spawn on Xbox when we were playing Reach. Now this video here does bring up a valid point because I have found a private group in 2010 that.. well like you said makes up for who you are. But you have to keep something in mind.... This community isn't perfect. There are times where I was pissed at this community. Some reasons were pretty stupid, others were rather legitimate. When I first joined B.net I did not receive a warm welcome. Trolls took a shit when I tried being nice. People treated me like I'm that one user everyone should dislike. I could have left, but Bungie's old layout at the time and their weekly update is what made it addicting, even though the community was horrible in my eyes. I think about maybe 5 or 6 months of being a member, I met some decent people that seemed nice and also hated the trolls. And like you said, private groups did make up reasons for people staying, I was in a lot of private groups but I didn't really have a connection with one private group until 2010, and that private group that I'm still in and met my 2 best friends in is RA. Now granted I have yet to meet anyone there in real life, but eventually happen, hopefully. My 2 best friends already met each other in real life thanks to the group, this place, and ultimately Halo. Some people may consider me as a regular, others probably won't. I'm no longer well-known on here anyway because I don't post in the mains as often. Oddly enough I'm well known to the forum ninjas, even the ones that didn't ban me. When I have more free time, I'll consider welcoming new people knowing that it's not an alt account anymore of somebody's. I'm not the nicest person in the world nor am I the meanest, so I can understand the reason why certain people here don't like me. That's fine, but what really had bothered me throughout the years is meeting the wrong people and having to deal with their shit because they're crazy. I guess with every community you'll meet good people and bad people, just like the real world. Anyway Burrito, if you do remember me, good. If not, that's okay. I don't expect anyone here to remember me. Thanks for giving me a reason to come back and post on these forums again. This video helped.

I listened to it all! Yes you did ramble a lot a lot, but I suppose that is sometimes what it takes to get in stride. Cutting through the video, there were some nice parts in there, with a powerful message, which benefitted from your seemingly boundless passion. In particular I liked the ~11:30-13:30 mark, where you drew parallels with your cadet experience, and the power of feeling a part of something. It was really good. I would suggest some material were borrowed from that part, for the upcoming community vidoc.

                  • Gotta admit- I'm finding it quite amusing that the people that dislike me for whatever reason are the ones that care enough to go out of their way on youtube to put me down. Quite funny. XP

                  • I'm not sure what's worse. That you talked to your computer for 15 minutes or that people actually listened to the whole thing. In any case, the Community has always been strong ever since multiplayer was announced for H2. It's grown and will continue to grow. It will be very annoying for a bit. Hopefully it will be like the H3 days when I could waste hours of free time on this website. Or I will just get so cynical I'll explode. Oh, and long live the Mythics.
I don't like how high my voice sounds online/on a recording.
That's because you hear your voice through your skull, more than through the air between your mouth and your ear. They way your voice sounds on video is the way we all hear it. That fact makes me crazy, too. But, sweet video, bro.
