I'm not just talking about "waifu" (anime wife or w/e), but feel free to give your opinions of that type as well.
Is it wrong to cry when a fictional character dies? Is it "sad" (like lol what a loser) to be depressed when your favourite series ends, as you'll never be able to see more of the characters in it?

No It's wrong to have feeling for a Necro bump tho

No, I get boners for them all the time.
-
Fiction wouldn't work if you didn't see the characters as people on some level.
-
No, I got that way with the ME series.
-
No Everyone is allowed to love me
-
Hell no, I cried like a baby when *spoiler if you haven't completely read the Inheritance Cycle
Oromis dies.
-
Nope, that's the authors/writer/creators intent is to create a character that you can feel connected with, and if said character dies, and it registers on an emotional level, then they've done a good job. Or you're a 5 year old.
-
I have strong emotional feelings for my waifu. I'm glad my girlfriend understands.
-
No. It's the only reason anyone cares about fiction at all.
-
No, not at all. I was a bit sad when
Itachi died in Naruto.
Edited by A 3 Legged Goat: 1/26/2013 3:50:32 AMIf you do then that means it's well written. I was a bit depressed at the end of the first FMA, and I was kinda saddened at the end of Brotherhood (sad joy if that makes sense). When I finished Shakugan no Shana, I decided to watch it again and then another time after that because I didn't want it to end. When this happens, you can assume two things: The work is well written, or you have no life. Or both.
-
I'd say no, after all, that is the aim of a writer.
-
Not at all friend. The entire point of having a fictional character is so you can on some level relate to them and/or their story, and honestly, on some level we do see them as people with their own troubles and hardships. It would actually be weird if you didn't feel anything towards them.
-
Well written fiction will make you get attached to the characters. There's nothing wrong with it.
-
Not really, it just means the story or characters were very well written. Now if you go to the point of obsession or worse...then it may be a little off.
-
No, it's unusual not to.
-
I think that's kind of the point.
-
Of course not.
