Hello everyone, the times is approaching when I will have to get an automobile. I am seriously considering getting a motorcycle, since I know they get great MPG (50-60 mpg for some), and are generally cheaper than a car to buy. They also just look badass, and fun to use. I go biking a lot, so I think I have an idea of what it would be like, just a lot faster with no physical effort on your part. Anyway, my parents are completely against the idea, because they think that I will get into a high speed crash and die.
What do you guys think? Is a motorcycle a good idea?
I live in Houston,TX by the way, so most of the year is warm enough for one.

I ride one now, both parents hate the idea. Start with the offroad stuff first, then buy a nice dual sport. It's -blam!- dangerous, almost got hit yesterday. People don't look for motorcycles here in San Antonio, which isn't to far from Houston. Buy a good helmet and boots, as well as a jacket. As long as you're armored up well, you can walk away from most crashes, unless your body hits something other then the ground.
