Forerunner and a Prophet

Warning: This thread contains Prophecy and possibly spoilers (I haven't played the game). If you are prone to flaming, you have been warned! Welcome to my mother of all thread (thus far). For those of you who are familiar with my previous posts on the topic, this is new stuff. I have handpicked several passages from The Word. They're quite frightening at how they are appearently coincidental... Or I'm just crazy (I like both answers). If anyone would like a list of the passage titles, simply PM me for them and I'll be more than happy to send 'em your way. (If you are not a skeptic of my findings, skip this paragraph) I understand that some (if not, most or all of you) do not believe as I believe. But for all of you skeptics out there, please try to answer these questions: Where else do you hear about the Flood wiping out entire populations? Where else do you hear about the Prophets of the Covenant? Where else do you hear about the Reclaimer bringing salvation to mankind? With that said, let the intrigue begin! (any thoughts I add will be italicised)

 • Prophet Truth, and possibly Mercy, know a lot of secrets that the rest of the Covenant don't know. Prophet Truth really has mass murder/suicide tendencies, and I can't but help to think that he is the Jim Jones of the Halo Universe. Someone that's lost all rationality and sanity, and is ready to kill off everyone in the name of religion and god. It is either that, or he has come to the revelation that everything his ancestors and Covenant have fought for is all for naught - as he discovers that the 'Great Journey' is really nothing more than death on a galatic scale, and that it was humans all along, and not any other species, that can set the Sacred Rings in motion. In light of these facts, Truth would be shamed, so Truth believes it is better to go out with a 'bang', than to reveal the tru7h to the Covenant, and have it pretty much break apart instantly. • UPDATE: PROPHET OF "TRUTH" Alright, think what you will on how loose or concrete this one is, but here are my thoughts. Many of you who have read earlier pages understand that I think that the covenant in halo are representative of pharisees who have been corrupted, or ancient experts in religious law. I think that bungie molded the image of the Prophet of Truth to fit this "ideal". Before you read this passage, I want you to invision certain aspects/cinematics of hal- You know, I have a feeling I shouldn't be posting this... something doesn't feel right. As much as I don't like to say this, I'm going to take a little break from the references for a while. They may be really cool, but I need some time to clear my head of all them money changers. But for those of you who have Bibles, I have a little thing for you to find. Luke 11:46-52 I do not know how long I'll be down for the count. It may be days, it may be weeks, perhaps more. If any of you want me to PM you when Im "back in business", PM me or say so within this thread, and I'll get back to you and let you know when I have collected my thoughts. Until we meet again, -Good night and God Bless- ~IceWeasel the Tired.

 •
Posted by: halogod90 iceweasel i got some more for you to add to all this weird stuff going on. i have also been thinking about all of those weird connections and in fact its all very religious. check some of this out;. i had a talk with a friend about all this and he thought i was delusional. check all this out. ya kno how 777 is a religious significance? well 3*4*3=777 and 343 guilty spark is supposedly the oracle. and look at the year halo takes place. 2552. 2+5=7 and then ya add the other two and the 5 and that gives ya 7 then if ya add 2+5+5+2 = 14 then ya divide it by 2 and that gives ya 7. put em all 2gether and it equals 777.
wait, when you say "3*4*3=777" are you saying "three times four times three"? Because that's 36.... but 7 to the third power (seven times seven times seven) is 343, and 2401 (penitent tangent (moniter of installation 04)) is 7x7x7x7. but you did catch me off gaurd with the year thing.... good one. a link for sevens! To Keith Byrne in response to:
I've no doubt that there is a bible connection with Halo, but a good bit has to be coincidence. Some of those quotes are very isolated and wouldn't be really known, even to preists.
True, I do admit that some are abstract. But if you review some of my older posts ( I could dig up a link later) I was posting alot of really abstract stuff. Yellow banshee (the website) inspired me on the John 1:17 (really revelations 1:17), but most of their other stuff is really abstract and could be reformed with better verses. Now when you say a "preist" wouldn't know a verse... well... that's kind of deep water. For one thing, a devout person doesn't have to be a preist... and we all know that some preists aren't as devout as they could/should be (but who are we to say?). Anyway, my point is, a wise believer knows his/her way around the Bible. (woah, kind of sidetracked, I did) alright, I've been with-holding this next update for a while thinking I could add to it, but I didn't really find much else. So..... hold on while i dig up the verse.

 • Thanks guys, I've always expected others to doubt, and some to believe. And yes, Those who do not understand do (for the most part) hate. I do admit, however, some of my finds may be a bit abstract. My apologies. But for the most part my finds are concrete. To those who defend my finds, thank you. To those who challenge them in a logical manner, thank you. To those who speak before thinking....(i'm at a loss of words) go away. • Interesting observations Ice weasel.. But just to clarify, I'm sure that the developers decided to take these references from the bible deliberately rather than it being some strange coincidence (as some reading this post may misleadingly believe).. Now if you think about it there are many reasons for them doing this.. the biggest being that in order for a team of writers to 'engineer' a religious fanatical group such as the covenant (bearing in mind that the main consideration would be to create them as rich and as detailed in their history, background & beliefs as possible so as to lead to a much deeper and believable gaming experience when playing) the easiest way to 'create' their religion would be to draw from research into actual religions that exist in the world today.. Now every religion has its own set of texts or doctrines that they follow, so its a logical step to examine those which are readily available (in a unversal language and thats easily accessible) in order to 'engineer' a fictional version for the game (i mean, could you imagine how long it would take for a developer to try to 'create' a 'fictional bible' from scratch with nothing to base it off??) So basically it not suprising that there are correlations between the christian scriptures and those used within the halo universe by the covenant.. Also its not the first time games developers have drawn on the bible for 'inspiration'.. If you recall the names of some creatures mentioned in the scriptures (Behemoth, Leviathan, Incubi, Succubi, Dragons, etc etc..) which have also had 'interpretations' which have been used in many a game, film, book and other forms of fiction.. (not the best analogy i kno but it'll do for now..) So I guess the bible (being probably the only religious text that is so easily accessible that u can find one anywhere) is definately the easiest place to find enough reference to base any fictional religion on.. - Archangel Morph -

 • Well I dont exactly know what the occult is, I'm not a very knowledgeable person so I'm not entirely sure if you mean the religious occult or some obscure halo worshipping occult or whatever. All I have to say is that everything I've found here is amazing, esppecially the clip taken from the arbiter scene. I do have to say however that I highly doubt that the "Arbiter Prayer" could have any reference to gravemind or be spoken by gravemind (Trust me I dont mean to flame) but it would seem odd that Gravemind would have any regret for ANYTHING he does, and that he would have any prescence on High Charity at all. I may have misread but I can see no way to link him to the aforementioned "Arbiter Prayer" for the reason that if he felt any regret for anything he ever did, he wouldnt have been such a...um...fudgeknuckler...at the end of the game and raided high charity in the first place. Anyway those are my musings, toodles all.

 • Its an interesting idea. But some of the things you've highlighted seem a bit abstract.Things like the fire from the horses mouth being plasma,i doubt bungie decided that because of a comment about fire breathing horses in the bible the covenant would use plasma based weapons. And i doubt bungie took inspiration from the hero metioned in your extract, its a game so it needs a hero there would have been a chief anyway. The fact that there is a group of religious fanatics in the game means that there's obviously going to words of an ecumenical nature.I agree though, that "flood" was taken purposely from the bible along with "the arc".However i recently discovered myself that bungie also takes inspiration from greek myth.Tartarus was the hell to which the titans were exiled. And the creatures w hich lived in the world before the gods came were often referred to as the forerunners. Its interesting to speculate anyway. •
Posted by: IceWeasel I'm sure I have missed many connections, and I may as well have erroniously pointed some out. But as far as I/we can tell, the game/story is riddled with it (scriptural parallels).
Indeed. We need to get Eagle 117, Recon Number 54, and some of the other "Mulling Over Marathon" guys to analyze Halo, Marathon, and the Bible together. That would provide some very interesting connections.

 •
Posted by: Geronimo Well, my brief and shallow encounters with the Occult (on strange web sites and whatnot) have shown me that it sometimes has a bit to do with books like Daniel and Revelation. (Complete with other tie-ins to Martians, Freemasons, Egyptians, and everything else under the sun.)
I myself have dabbled in the occult. Luckily for me, I have more than enough undeserved Grace by my side. Now what I am about to say may be pushing the envelope on off topic discussion (forgive me for my horrible crimes against the mod.s) but I think that the occult would have you believe anything unorthodoxed about scripture if it had a shot. Any attempt to weaken (the public's view of) the church will more than likely will be exploited. now in an attempt to bring this back on track..... The first time I heard the name "halo" i thought it would have to do with religious background... however the first "concrete" connection I could find was quite some time (perhaps 2 years?) after I started playing the game. I'm sure I have missed many connections, and I may as well have erroniously pointed some out. But as far as I/we can tell, the game/story is riddled with it (scriptural parallels).

There's always something wonderfully spooky about tie-ins to Apocalyptic books of the Bible and the Occult. Anyway, somewhere I read that Joe Staten's (or maybe Jason Jones') father was a professor of theology, so all these biblical references are right on target for Bungie. Actually, you know how I kept trying to get dirt on gravemind but got scraps? this kind of blows the doors open not only for gravemind, but for anyother time you hear jibberish... "they" say this find adds a whole new branch to theory making and stuff.
