  • Every time i go into matchmaking it states "Infomation could not be retrieved from the Halo 3 server". i have xbox live Gold. I can play other games online fine. I can even play online co-op and custom games with friends fine. I have tried directly conecting my xbox 360 through my modem and it still doesn't work. What is wrong and how can it be fixed?

  • personally i liked the humor in bungie's responses. and if they do have special armor and dont want to admit it ther is no reason to get mad about it. shotty snipers is definately played often but its a good lil match to have fun with. anyways i have three questions. 1. Why are there no fire grenades or fuel rod cannons set as a standard weapon on any of the maps? Is forge the only way to get a hold of them in multiplayer? And hat happened to the Wraith? 2. Will you ever bring back Coagulation or are we all stuck with Valhalla? 3. And why did you slow down the Warthog? My FAVORITE thing to do on any match would to fly around the map splattering people and now it takes so long to try and splatter someone they can jump out of the way with great ease. P.S. Bungie ur the best! These last three years would not have been the same without you. =D

  • Unforunately, the premise behind forcing every player to press on the d-pad while in intense battle seems to be a bit odd. If the 360 controller had the same features as a keyboard, allowing the players pinky to access the voice chat while still having full control of the WASD and firing functions, then I could see a reason; but the 360 is not designed for a user to interact with both triggers, both analog sticks, and the d-pad at the same time; atleast not in the function of intel while in-battle. This feature seems to be pointless based on the 360's advanced settings in regards to muting players, etc. With private chat, group chat, etc. built into the 360 dashboard, any player who dislikes hearing constant chatter but wants to hear something from someone can using the private chat or group chat. If somoene doesn't like someone's endless chatting; then the player can mute them - but the base you target to stop the annoying chatter isn't going to be quelled because they usually are not engaged in the gameplay. The portion of players that will suffer are the people who intensley play the game and can't afford to press an additional button to tell their team important information. In the end, the player should be able to understand that he/she can not have a headset setup and not stream the voices what-so-ever, or he/she can setup a private chat or group chat with someone, or even more-so he/she can mute people who are annoying. This is a feasable option with every other multiplayer title on the 360 to my knowledge, as I have not played one that requires the user to be intensely involved with both triggers and analog sticks; but also assumes that holding UP on the d-pad would not cause any issues. Just my 2 cents, the feature seems to shy people away from using voice chat for practical methods; as 99% of what I've herd in those cases is people making odd noises and no sense of intel - as it's not worth it to tell your team about two enemies if it jeaprodizes you surviving any fire-fight; whereas the spammers can die and respawn in a safe area to press UP and rant away. Other then that, the game is a good sequel to Halo 2. I hope you go the same route of adding new maps, as the list is lacking atm. Also, the Forge is an innovative feature but I had wished you had went the route of something along the lines of the Far Cry 360 map editor, as it seems to be even more user friendly but has a huge amount of options far surpasing adding junk to previously designed maps. The one reason why Halo 2 on the PC is appealing isn't it's Windows Live Acheivements; it's the ability to use software on par with or a more user friendly style of software remenicant of Radiant or Unreal Editor. Also, Shotgun and Snipers = A horrible option to have in Team Slayer. I don't know why so many games try to change something they have right; and keep alot of things they have wrong. Mabye it's easier to break things than it is to fix them - and I'm pretty sure that's the truth regardless of the topic. Playing 2 rounds of Shotgun Sniper for every 4 rounds of Team Slayer really shows off the vast amount of new weapons availible in Halo 3, and it also shows off the new gameplay dynamics as I continue to snipe people in the same spot on a more visually appealing version of Zanzibar. I'm a fan of the game, but I'm a critic aswell; and I know MGS probably wasn't begging you to launch Halo 3 after Christmas either; but it's unforunate that alot of things are left problematic until further patches that may or may not happen. Bungie as an independant company is a good thing; look at MGS's track recrod for companies they acquire and control - It's not a great thing. Theres that one company that did a few small titles, what was it... Oh yeah, FASA. Good call not turning into a roboust version of them; as I could see Halo 4 being something along the lines of Shadowrun, a ton of random ideas shot into MP with the hope it'd last more than a month or two - and a SP campaign could have saved it. Anyways, long story short. Good job, -blam!- is still a bit off but you're miles ahead of most of the companies Microsoft has direct control over as far as quality. My game hasn't caused my box to RoD nor has it caused my HDD to burn up into little peices of metal scraps; so far you've beaten Shadowrun and PGR. Bravo!

[/quote] Ya that doesn't happen to me....The explosion shouldn't come through the shield door (that is, if you're on the side with fusion coils and he is on the other side). If he steps through the shield door and throws it and backs up then that makes sence, but otherwise it sounds like a glitch.

  • I too was a bit disappointed with the response to the Q&A. I know the weekly updates are delivered with a certain amount of joking, but I thought they would have taken it a bit more seriously. There were a lot of really good questions posted, and it would have been nice if more concrete (or at least more serious) answers were given.

We're your fans, we're not just bags of money waiting to be pilfered from. We're not mindless drones who will simply accept everything at face value. We test, we prod, we examine. If we find fault and inconsistencies, is that our error? Moreover, what light do you come off in when you reply to your loyal fanbase in such a crass and demeaning manner? No. Getting knocked into the stratosphere by a melee hit isn't cool. Nor is the way the game calculates melee hits. Server connection should have nothing to do with it. If Bungie Team members have their own special armor, that's fine. But don't hold armor behind your backs and pretend like it's not there. We see it. It's okay if only you can have it, you're Bungie. You could make all of yourselves invisible if you wanted. God forbid you come right out and say "Yes, that is Bungie-only armor, and sorry, there is no way to get it", no, that's way too direct and respectful. Shotty Snipers has no place in Team Slayer. It's a separate game-type. Nor is the way the Sniper Rifle now shoots an improvement. If you're going to make it harder to use, don't add a 1/2 second of lag or something. You could add smoke that clouds the vision, or something! And please please PLEASE stop making my reticle follow the enemy. It really messes up sniping, not to mention gameplay in general. And no, before you even think about a snarky remark for that, Auto-Aim is not turned on. Please Bungie, treat us with respect, won't you? We give you the same without you even asking.   • 3 questions. 1. Why was Shotty Snipers taken completely out of the Free For All play lists? 2. Why is there no Team Shotty Snipers or Team Snipers playlist? If you can't play snipers when you want to practice, how can you get good with it? I was completely shocked when I saw that neither playlist was available given the extreme poplularity of it in Halo 2. If it was taken out of Team Slayer it would also fix the problem that I read in another one of the updates about Shotty Snipers showing up too much in Team Slayer. 3. What possible reason could there be for some of the weapons not being selectable as Starting weapons in custom games? No Carbine or Covenant sniper. It's impossible to make a custom game of Snipers like in Halo 2 since you can't place The Covenant Sniper as a primary or secondary weapon. That makes the custom game slightly limited and it seem a little unfair and untrue to bungie's goals of giving players as much creativity as possible. It would seem like since bungie went through the trouble of making a COMPLETE MAP EDITOR they would at least allow all the weapons to be set as primary and secondary weapons.

  • Hey Bungie, I have some questions and I hear this be the place to ask them. First, where did Mister Chief go? Secondly, I was searching around and I found what seemed to be Trogdor, did my eyes deceive me or is he really hidden in there? Why are the level boundaries so repressive this time around? Is the plasma pistol as powerful as it was? And finally, when the Forunners fired off the halos, why were the prophets killed, since they were supposed to be around the same time as the Forunners?   • Where do you get these questions? 'Cause I'd love to ask one: why did you ever re-merge the Big Team Battle gametypes? A lot of us don't want to spend 20 minutes trapped in an objective gametype we didn't want to play when all we really wanted was a game of Big Team Slayer. Are there any plans to bring BTB Slayer back?

  • why were all the online only achievements made for ranked FFA, when the majority of players prefer team games? also, why was the way films are saved changed from the beta? its nice to have the film temporarily stored in case we forgot to save it after the match, but it would be nice to save immediately in case we're on a run and forget later on to switch lobbies and save it.

  • Bungie, Can you take a look at the speed of deploying equipment. It takes too long. Multiple times I've been killed before the bubble shield, regenerator could be activated. No it's not because I'm slow to the button, I'm very fast.

  • To bungie and all those who work there, Yeah, I played the crap out of Halo 3. I played the crap out of all of them. I took 2 days off from playing to really think about the game so I could get a good judgement of the game that was unbias. Halo 3 is a great game, with an incredible amount of polish and so many great features it almost makes your head spin, but now I've come to the problems of the game. There ARE more areas that feel more open and vehicle oriented, like Halo CE, but that made me think of the reasons why I loved Halo so much. This is why, in my opinion, the Campaign for Halo and Halo 2 were actually more fun that Halo 3's Campaign. (Note, this is all done from the perspective of playing on Legendary) First off, the length. After playing through the game, I realised it was short. A single mission will take roughly 25 to 30 minutes to beat, minus 2 missions that take roughly 40 minutes. In Halo CE or 2, there were more, longer mission, and I know length of game isn't always an issue, but I really feel Halo 3 is just too short. Second, and this is the main reason. My friend and I can sit down and play Halo CE's Campaign any time. When he comes over, we can just sit down and play any of the missions, even the ones people say they hate more than Saddam (I'm looking at you Library), and it's just plain fun. If I MYSELF sit down to play the Campaign of Halo CE, I have a ton of fun. When I go to talk to my Uncle about everything Halo, we have very specific conversations, and those are about battles. Very specific confrontations in Halo CE and Halo 2 that were just so hard we had to come up with picture perfect strategies to get past them. For example: In Halo CE, on the mission Truth and Reconciliation, the part of the mission just under the Covenant Cruiser, to the part when you just get inside, to the part in the docking bay are all really hard, but that's why their fun. We would all talk about how we got through that part of the mission, what we did, and how many tries it took to get right. It's great to hear what your friends and family come up with that you didn't even think of. Again, during Halo 2 on Cairo Station, there's the one docking bay where there are 2 Grunt turrets, and a whole bunch of Elites at the other end of the room. What I did was completely different from what my uncle did, which was completely different from what my friend did, which was still different from what my uncle's friend did. It's just great to see how versatile the level design was for such a small, yet incredibly hard room. In Halo 3, myself nor my uncle have come to a single point in the Campaign where we said, "That part was really hard. How'd you do it?" We just played the game and got through with very little problems. The only point we did mention was on the mission Cortana where you come to a spiraling starcase like room with Pure Form Flood on the ceiling shooting at you with their spikes, but we both noticed the Cloaks in the previous room, and the Cloaks half way up the room in question, making that part a walk through. We weren't challenged like we wanted to be, and it wasn't that fun. The games great, and will appeal to the every man, sure, but what happened to my problem points? I WANT to be stuck on a part of a level where I have to think really hard, and play really well to get through it. I miss the Elite that took 4 headshots, or the Jackal that could kill me in 8 shots and could get those shots off in one second. It didn't make for good gameplay I'm sure, but it was still hella fun. Now, I know the skulls are meant to make the game harder, and I really should test whether or not I'll get to a point that challenges me truly when I have them turned on. I would have to turn on the Tough Luck, Famine, and Mythic Skulls, just so the game's harder without being silly or out of the ordinary. Maybe then I'll get what I'm looking for. There are still memorable moments, don't get me wrong, such as when my friend was flying a Hornet with me on the side, then he got me close enough to jack a Banshee, but there aren't memorable segments of missions. That's what I miss the most. Halo 2's Campaign may not have been that great at all (in my opinion), but it still had memorable segments. The multiplayer isn't in question. It's still just as fun as Halo 2's, if not far better... yeah, it's far better. This isn't really a question, or really me asking/telling you to do something, I'm just informing you, or at least I hope I am. Also, nobody uses the Sniper Rifle or Energy Sword on Constuct, you might want to tweak it somehow. Just a thought.
