•
Posted by: Dark Hunter 2100 x
Adding onto everything Bt said, you're confused as to why Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 were ported to the PC. Halo: Combat Evolved: After Microsoft had acquired Bungie and got them to work on Halo for the Xbox exclusively, Apple, Steve Jobs specifically, was upset because they had been showcasing Halo: Combat Evolved as a driving force for the future of Mac gaming. Microsoft ended up making a deal with them that they would release certain titles that were originally exclusive to the Xbox as PC/Mac ports. The main game being Halo: Combat Evolved. Halo 2: Microsoft was beginning to launch their campaign to "take over PC gaming" with Games for Windows Live. They were rounding up as many first party titles they could that made sense on the PC to launch it. It only made sense to use Halo seeing as though it was their most popular first party franchise on their console. They could have used Halo 3 but decided not to seeing as though they still wanted newer Halos to be exclusive to the 360. They figured Halo 2 was good enough and handed the work over to a sloppy one night stand type first party development team.

Halo: Combat Evolved wasn't ported because it lacked popularity from the beginning. Anyone who was old enough to truly remember will tell you it was doing very well before the PC port. Halo 2 wasn't ported because people were making a big fuss either. If that were true we would have gotten it much sooner than we did. Microsoft doesn't give two -blam!-s about how much we want something. They look at things like this with absolutely no emotion and strict business. [Edited on 07.19.2012 9:37 AM PDT]
