Doom 3 and and Id can go to ****
So I have been waiting, and waiting for Doom 3 to come down to $29.99 at Best Buy, Ive been playing Painkiller and the Battle out of Hell expanstion in the mean time, I go in today and *poof* their it was $29.99, I snatch it up, along with a new Razorback mouse, and rush home right after work,, install it, set all the options (including allowing it select the the best settings based on my hardware (ultra high)) and I restart my PC, and Im all set, lets blast some demons right?.................. F no, after the load bar fills, it crashes to my desktop, tried it a couple times and nota, Son of a -blam!-! so I google " Doom 3 crashes to desktop after loadin" thinking I cant be the only one, was I right or what! tons and tons and tons of posts and complaints about it crashing either upon loading or durring play, how in the hell does Id take 3 years to make a game (which has yet to post a great review, to repetative ect...) that has more bugs than the movies Ants™ and A bugs life™ combined?
I have found that their is a patch avail, 18 mfn MB's, Im on a Dial-up!!!! that is lucky to get 4kb per second!!!!! what a load of S, I am so taking this POS back and continuing on with Painkiller. A BEAUTIFUL GAME THAT ACTUALLY WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my copy of Doom3 for my PC. There are a couple of simple ways to stop crash's like the one you experienced but because your on dial-up it gets a bit harder so i'll deal with the exclusivly non dl fixes. First turn the settings down i don't give a flying -blam!- if it says you can have your settings up high lets get the game running before we get it looking pretty. Second buy this month's issue of pc gamer and on the disc should be the latest drivers for your brand of graphics card. Old or factory drivers are one of the main causes of game crashes especially with high end gpu intensive games. I have both versions and i can say that the xbox version just about steals it because of the co-op. I remember playing with my friend late at night when that big dog thing attacks us i jump over some railings so it cant get me but he gets stuck and panic's he forgets to equip a weapon and ends up battering it to death with his torch while screaming -blam!- off -blam!- off at the top of his lungs now that was priceless. I'am not sure as to why you have a kick ass pc if your still on dial-up. [Edited on 8/18/2005]
