Figured I'd get a thread where people can put all the info from the event without making 50,000 threads. Any way to sticky this thread so it stays at the top?? [Edited on 08.21.2007 10:35 PM PDT]

The event was awesome. Great job guys! That projector kicked some arse, as I almost cried seeing Halo 3 on the six story screen so clear. Frankie, that was an enviable job to walk around the theater with the wireless controller in hand and playing. Everyone in the crowd was so excited to be there, you could feel the energy. (and a smell the gamer stench.) The game looks beyond words. I can't wait.. but the wait will be worth it. Here are my photos from the event: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ehavir/sets/72157601599705162/detail/
Posted by: bungie is ga4y Somne of you people posting either were not there and you are just posting what you read online or you have A.D.D. or something... The flamethrower was AWESOME. IT IS NOT OVERPOWERED. It took Frankie like 15 seconds before he could kill Luke with it. It did seem that once luke caught on fire, he ran around for like 2 seconds and died. Giving Frankie a "you incinerated Lukemz" Medal. With Forge, Not only can you place/move objects, you can turn them, tilt them, flip them... Frankie showed by moving the turret on high ground onto the ground and putting upside down. My guess would be that this makes it so you have to detatch it to use it. Both the tanks have a new turret that someone else can man. Both tanks also look AMAZING! Theres no other way to describe how they look. When frankie was in forge, picking the tank from the list, He dropped some other human( I think, maybe brute but I doubt it) that we havent seen or heard of yet. It WAS NOT the hornet though. I cant remember the name... even though I told myself not to forget it. The water sounds and look FANTASTIC Marty did an awesome job with the sound. The music during the campain was good too. Which reminds me of the gun Frankie picked up during Campain, It was a plasma turret, which like the human version, he could carry around. The Gravity sniper towers are destructable. The gravity hammer is pretty cool, but I missed most of the swing because some ass behind me hit the back of my head with his foot, causing me to go into a near deathly rage. Sandtrap is sweet as phuuuuuuuuk Its really big, has a couple of wall/building things you can get on, making it even bigger. Seems there are two spartan lasers on the level. Sa a couple different armours than the ones we have seen before. Cant really describe except not all of them are as dumb looking as the ones we have seen. The elephant is HUGE. I cant wait to put a tank in it and have someone drive the elephant around. Frankie hinted that if the flag capture point is in the elephant, you can drive it to the flag carrier!!! Saved Films is amazing!!! Not only does it look sweet as phuuuuuuuuuuk, but it sounds good to. If you freeze while a rocket is being shot, you can bring the camera near it and you hear the sound of the rocket, same with everything else. And if the 5.1 system was working, Frankie said it is WAY better. You can also do a slomo, almost frame by frame to watch people get blown up or whatever. I thought the coolest part was you can cut out clips, perfect for movies and stuff. And i just remembered that I saw a new weapon on high ground. He didnt pick it up, but he ran over it, bringing up the pick up weapon thing. It was a small looking weapon, maybe brute.
Yeah, Probably the brute shotgun. Heard of that one? You can dual weild em.
Posted by: Splendid28 Im just wondering people.....If they had an article of the ending of Halo 3 on bungie.net, would you read it? I mean, how much do you guys really want to know before you even play the game? I personally enjoy experiencing everything myself and not having someone tell me.
They did not show much we did not already know. Also the power drainer, sucks all the power out of an area causing things to colide so fast they explode. The sound was teribble because Xbox360 is not compatible with the Imax sound system, ask any one that went if it sounded like doom back in 1995 and they will sadly say yep. Any way, It started with campain on the Highway and supsequentially forge and the Theater (Video Reply). Lukemz, did not have a mic, but you could faintly make out his voice through Frankiez audio in that botched sound system. Man, when some character gets hit by a vehicle it looks distubing with big spouts of blood every where. Things that struck me included the biggest vehicle in the game, Frankiez said, "It is a vehicle that can hold other vehicles, if you put all the heavily armed vehicles in it, you can take it around the map as THE MOST HEAVILY ARMED VEHICLE.?" (u-kno-what-um-sain) I am a little mad at myself because they were choosing a map for forge and you could see about eight choices but they moved so fast through this arenas that, i could not memorize them. (dats right epsilon has 6 choices ) We got to see the flame thrower in actoin,!!!! it is way too powerful, it is an instant kill every time. (It is nahpalm, it makes any one caught in its path a man-o-lantern) As the crowd screamed "BURN HIM" Frankiez looked at the moniter (forge mode) burned the ground around him and caught Lukemz on fire, dead! PS we put up with moderately bad weather 70% of the time so we needed a little treat, especially after this traffic and the constant rain (Started Friday, but hell it looks so good today : )

man... you guys need to not stress out about not being there! and dont worry about bungie showing you the exact footage from it... I mean they did have cameras so its possible they may include it in a vid doc or something else. But seriously... take a visit to ign, or egm and look at what they have planned to show in the coming weeks leading up to the game. Your going to see PLENTY! And if you really think about it, the game itself is only a month away. Dont give yourselves heart attacks over this!

i was at the second showing. we got there at about 9:15 and had to wait until about 10:40 to be let into the building, which was hot and stuffy. the only NEW thing I saw was actual flamethrower footage which was EXTREMELY disappointing. I really thought the flamethrower was going to be new and exciting, and not just lame sprites flying out of the gun. no decent flame effect at all. the important thing for everyone to remember is that the event wasn't supposed to be exciting for people that DIDN'T go. i'm only a moderate Halo fan (as many better first person shooters have come before and after halo) so i don't consider myself biased toward halo. with that said, the entire thing was amazing. actually seeing the campaign in action, in all its glory (aside from a fairly dark projector screen) was amazing. the animations were fluid. the impacts were impactful. everything felt ridiculously cohesive in the highway level. it felt huge. the draw distance was amazingly far. the textures were incredibly detailed. the graphics quality is NOT better than gears of war or many other games, but the design and attention to detail were fairly outstanding. halo has never been about graphics, but they've done a good job of just making it feel together and smooth.

By the way, here's a link to my thread - a complete list with constant updates. I'll answer all questions anybody wants to ask, and the list is always updated. Just thought it might be interesting to a few: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=12440710
Posted by: THE KR1PT You said there was a zoom over of Sandtrap? Did you see any Hornets, or have they been confirmed campaign only?
I saw no Hornet. Even while demonstrating Forge, Frankie brought up a menu with a list of vehicles but I didn't see Hornets. This is not to say Hornets are not in multiplayer, it may just mean that Hornets were not in the build being used. They were using a dev 360. They also demonstrated save films with an old build. PS: I did watch someone record the whole thing on his cell phone. May he rot. [Edited on 08.22.2007 12:16 AM PDT]

It was sooooo awesome. The best part was, at the end of the demo, when the Covenant Capital ship soared overhead. The floor litterally shook when that happened. It was like that part when In Amber Clad flew of the Chief's head. Only 20x's better.

The description a couple of posts above mine looks like everything, but I was wondering if anyone noticed this. During the brief glimpses of menus, I believe they a choice of vehicle that was called a "PROWLER." I may be wrong, but I could swear I saw it. Maybe this vehicle is well-known, I haven't heard about it. hmmm. [Edited on 08.21.2007 11:51 PM PDT]

They did briefly show the elephant, i dont know if they've shown pics of it before. And in forge apparently you can make the elephant your flag capture point, and so bring the capture point to your flag carrier. And yes, it is driveable in multiplayer

o ok sorry here i forgot your name when i qouted so heres for you
Posted by: Lumenii<--- see i didnt forget this time I'm bound to miss quite a bit, so understand that we're all tired after it. - So, it was Frankie (Franklez) and Luke (lukemz) playing the entire time. - They showed us what the Campaign Scoring screen looked like. - They played through part of Tsavo Highway: - You start in a garage-type place, and are given verbal instructions on what to do (basically, get the hell out of the caves). - You get in one of the Warthogs, and leave the garage, going through the caves - When you exit the caves, you're in areas bordered by hills. There are Grunts and Brutes every now and then (keep in mind this was on Heroic). - They showed the Fuel Rod, Plasma Cannon (removable), a Flare was thrown at them, Brute Chopper, Drones, new type of land-based turrets (he sniped a Grunt out of one). - Also, the Phantom's turrets fire much faster. The Phantom also has a plasma cannon on each side (the Phantom is open-sided), with a Grunt controlling each one, I believe. - Later, on the highway, you could see the Ark and storm in the background, with Banshees flying towards it. - Luke threw a tripmine at Frankie, and Frankie walked onto it, before quitting Tsavo Highway. - They showed us the Forge Lobby, and played it. You can be a Spartan/Elite, and up on the D-Pad changes to a Monitor or back. - You can pick up most objects (Rocket Launchers, boxes, turrets, vehicles, etc). - On High Ground, the cost limit was $136. Yes, $136. Weapons were all $2 each, I think. Vehicles were $5, $10, $15, and $20... I think. - People can stand on things as you lift them (lift up a crate with a teammate on it, for example). - You can move/rotate/flip/etc things when you are holding them. - When you drop things, they don't always land flat (Frankie put the High Ground gate's turret on the ground on the beach side of it, but it fell over - a nicely-placed turret? Maybe). - Then, they went back to the E3 build of the game, and showed us a saved film, on Sandtrap. It was awesome. There was an Elephant sitting there, and a Brute Chopper and a Warthog also for each team, I think. - The Brute Chopper's attack, as seen in the E3 trailer, is a one-hit Warthog kill. - The Brute Chopper's cannons are good (note - my opinion there, of course). - Remember, as said at the Imax presentation: driving a Warthog on top of a tall building when Lars Bakken is coming up the other side of the (slanted) building with a Rocket Launcher and Brute Shot isn't a good idea - unless Lars misses his first Rocket shot (which he did)). - Bungie gave away a Legendary Helmet (WITHOUT the game) signed by the Bungie staff to the person sitting in seat G7. G7. Now, let's see here... What am I missing?... It was worth it, in my opinion.
[Edited on 08.21.2007 11:44 PM PDT]

This is what the guy at gamespot said, because i think you guys might be interested.. "The game looked beautiful, and extremely breathtaking. Obviously this is somewhat biased, as I am a fan of the series, and am inclined to say that "anything with Master Chief in it looks great", but at the same time, it'd be foolish for anyone to say what was shown of the Single Player content was anything less then "extraordinary". To anyone else was there, I'm sure they would agree with me when I say the game certainly has the best looking ground textures, and plant life of any console shooter out there - and while that may sound like a small thing while you are reading this, it was a sight for soar eyes to see the grass wave around in the wind, and see it all react to the grenades and burst-fire going on around it. The HDR and Bloom certainly added to the feel of the game, but, the only thing I left out from my original post was the inclusion of the Scorpion tank being shown. Damn did that look good. The Scorpion is now a two-maned vehicle, like the Wraith, and has a side-turret for a friend to join. The entire tank looks incredibly battered up, and outfitted with leather straps and outside artillery armor. It was in my honest opinion, the largest technically feasible jump the team made on a previous vehicle. Simply breath-taking."
