Bungie Birthday Button: Also know as BBB.
"Greetings, weary travelers." /fictional story welcome
So, you may ask "What inspired you to come up with a notion as abstract as a Bungie Birthday Button?". Well, let me tell you. So today, Oct. 2, is my birthday. Light the candles, eat a cake, throw a party. As I was sitting in school, contemplating things other than why I'm learning how to do factoring in an advanced math class, I got to thinking: How could I let the Community know of my excitement of being on this earth for another year without being off-topic, yet presenting an intriguing idea? Then it hit me: The Bungie Birthday Button. Bungie-relating to the website, users, etc.. Birthday- Years after date of birth celebrating your existence and Button- because it's catchy, and could be represented by a little blue septagon on the front of your profile. Cue explanation and reasoning. This could be added to Bungie.next, and could be implemented on either a personal or public user calendar. The calendar itself could have different tabs, like Community Carnage events, Ride alongs, Birthdays, the works. We could then imput our date of birth (and age if wanted) and reminders could be added to our Bungie.net profile. Different 'buttons' (again, represented by different colored septagons like gold or blue.) would be 'pinned' to your profile, giving you reminders on upcoming events, or saying messages like "Happy Birthday, Unanimate Objec! No steak for you!" Some of you may say "I like the simplicity of Bungie as is, and don't see a need of a worthless addition like this". Well, to counter that argument, I'd say "There's always room for new additions, and besides, this doesn't have to be public (unless wanted by mass appeal) and would only appear on the public calendar and your profile. If Bungie wants ideas, then ideas they shall have. On a side note, maybe Birthdays could be represented by an animated Septagon shooting off fireworks. Anything's possible.
So, what are your thoughts on the concept of different events, like a birthday or ridealong, (represented by a Bungie calendar, different from the Community's) pinned to your profile after your requesting to be notified?
TL;DR: ^ Read that, and happy early birthday. -Mr. U [Edited on 10.02.2012 1:11 PM PDT]
