The whole point in the LAN option is to provide a multiplayer experience without requiring Internet access, so sure.
As the guy said above, you'll need ethernet cables to do it; you're likely already using one to connect to your modem/router for your Internet access.
If it's just a connection between two machines that you're looking for, it's pretty much as simple as connecting up an ethernet cable to the network ports of both machines.
Your role as a moderator enables you immediately ban this user from messaging (bypassing the report queue) if you select a punishment.
