Should "better" members be recognised?

By "better" I refer to members (or groups of members) who make contributions to the community. For instance, by the way they post, sharing their artwork, stories, organising game nights, etc... Why not have a way of identifying the role models in this community?

 •
Posted by: dazarobbo
Posted by: Mind Reaper 771 People show preference to those who show accomplishment or achievement, and you are kind of just asking for that to occur on a more frequent basis than it already does when something of this sort is implemented.
Absolutely. You know why? Because sometimes it's not worth reading everyone's opinion. If I ask a question about something I know nothing about, I would much rather get a response from/read a post from someone who I know knows what they're talking about. And that isn't just true of myself either. For instance, why do you think people want to be able to quickly find a Bungie employee's post in a topic? I'd wager a guess that it's because what they've posted may be authoritative in some way, and nobody wants to miss reading something like that.
And yet everyone else's thoughts and opinions are just glazed over like they aren't even there, which will happen, as it already does? How is that fair to them, those who aren't better? It isn't It's unfair as it is, so in a sense you're just asking for potentially good input to be thrown away in favor of a post that has nothing to do with the topic itself, which the Moderators themselves have perfected in a sense. What you are proposing will no doubt destroy whatever sense of equality that this website still has left for the regular, average members who post here. This is a friendly place for us all to come together on equal terms, and just discuss or debate whatever might be on our minds, within reason of course. We have titles and such, but asking for a way for people to be seen and recognized on the spot is asking for more complaints, more pissed of users, and a larger gap between those well-known, and those who are seemingly invisible. Asking for something that makes people better than you isn't going to improve a user-friendly attitude, hell the very idea of having people better than me in one of the few places I can freely speak my mind makes me feel sick. This is basically just asking for Elitism. [Edited on 09.14.2012 2:01 PM PDT]
