School Suicide.

I had a friend from school named David Phan that ended his life tragically yesterday with a gunshot to the head at the public overpass near the school.I had just arrived home, when my younger brother (10) called me, saying that the intersection was being stormed with ambulances. I thought there might've been a minor car crash, as I'd just heard a few sirens. Exceptionally disturbed by their panic as it had now been going on for a while, I went to check out the skybridge later, unaware of what was honestly going on. After the EMTs and EMCs left the scene and cleaned up, I checked it out later. There was staining from the blood, girls crying and news anchors covering every inch of the intersection between my home and school. It was horrifying. He was their main provider, and his death wracked our grandparents's hearts with pain. On March 31st, 2009, my baby brother Jaxan Joseph Oliver was stillborn. I'd seen death before, but this is one of the times that it directly impacted me. I started to become antisocial, and even cut myself on a few occasions. The scars are still there, accompanied by a massive gash on my right shin. This is wrong. I surely wish I had not done that. There are other ways of dealing with this. Just last May I lost my other uncle that played an even bigger role in watching out for my grandparents. He ended his life with a gunshot to the heart. On a few occasions in the past, I have even considered this way out (only temporarily after the events with my baby brother). I want to make it known this is not the way of dealing with this. See a grief counselor. Get help. Suicide is a horribly selfish act and shouldn't even cross your mind at any given time. It doesn't only affect your immediate family, but your extended family and community as well. If you are bullied, do something about it. Tell a responsible adult. I've been bullied all my life and counselors have helped tremendously. Just talk things out. If you took the time to read this, I appreciate it. God bless David's family and they have my best wishes. [Edited on 11.30.2012 12:35 PM PST]
