First with the ARG we all expected an announcement from Bungie, but how many people thought it was a new Halo? I was expecting an announcement that was inline with the 7/11/08 Weekly Update by lukems. Specifically the the first of the bullet points at the end of the post...
Future Tense As a reader, I can only imagine just how frustrating it is to not have any new information just yet. Rest assured, dear vengeful, hypertense reader many things are in motion. Many things. These numerous things include the following: * Major changes to the Halo 3 Online experience * Sweet Announcements * Poignant Clarifications * Certain-point-of-view Truths * Things you will love * Things you will argue about * Things you will make angry videos about
What Don Mattrick was talking about in the LA Times was about a NEW Bungie created Halo game, not about changes to Halo 3. If Microsoft wants to announce that they are canceling a Halo game announcement no one was expecting it's their money to blow, and like Luke Plunkett said at Kotaku
Maybe, though you've (Don Mattrick) also totally taken the wind out of that announcement's sails with all this meddling.
I want to know what the "Major changes to the Halo 3 Online experience" are, and when they are going to be implemented. I've been thinking what changes could Bungie make that would be "Major" to Halo 3's online experince? 1) Custom Games Search - which would allow them to concentrate on the new project while we amuse ourselves with games of Swat Juggernaut Assault and Low Gravity High-speed CTF. 2) Releasing the map editor that was developed for the PC version of Halo 2 for Halo 3 use. 3) Bungie would add a new permanent Playlist that would strictly be made up of Bungie favorites. What else could Bungie do that would be a "Major Change", ideas?
