Best sci-fi movie ever made

Most sites that have these top ten countdowns that I've seen always list Bladerunner as the #1. Curious to see what the Flood thinks. Personally, it's the original Star Wars for me, which I just watched again today for the dozenth time. Although I finally saw Bladerunner for the first time this month and I've got to see it definitely deserves all the praise. [Edited on 01.07.2013 9:17 PM PST]
I'm bored and need a movie...if you could summarize Serenity's plot in one sentence to catch my interest, what would you say?
Have you seen Firefly? If not, watch Firefly. Then watch Serenity.
Never seen firefly...so Serenity is not a standalone movie? I'd have to watch Firefly to understand it?
Serenity: Pirates in space fight the space government. With Nathan Fillion. Don't worry about the Firefly thing. Serenity is actually BETTER (and it is pretty -blam!- good as is) as a standalone movie than as the ending to Firefly. Edit: As an answer to the topic, my favourite is District 9, followed by Serenity. Sunshine is really good as well. [Edited on 01.07.2013 10:20 PM PST]
