Anyone play that XCOM game?
My brother has been telling me to buy it, reviews are not bad and I don't have a strategy game right now.
Anyone play it? I guess it's a remake of a game that came out 20 years ago.

I wanted to play it but what turned me off was the incredibly hard difficulty of the game. For me it feels like they were advertising it as a feature kinda like they did with the Dark Souls game. Difference is that XCOM apparently is not a mediocre piece of crap. Nevertheless, I dont care for difficulty and I rather not buy something thats going to frustrate me. If I see it in Black Friday at a reasonable price, I might get it.

Great game. It doesnt hold your hand and the difficulty is just right. Add it to your collection.

That's good news for me because I loved Dark Souls and Borderlands2. I love it when a game forces you to accept a difficult challenge.

I thought it was great. If you like strategy games at all I'd suggest picking it up. Only thing I would be wary of is that you WILL have your guts ripped out and danced on by the random number generator a few times. I personally love planning the best I can around it knowing that 95% miss might be just around the corner but some people might find that too infuriating to enjoy. Biggest complainers have been some purists of the old one lamenting anything and everything added, removed, or altered from the old game so besides them I would heavily recommend it to anyone. XCOM is amazing, and this one is on par with the original in my opinion. It also makes SLASO Halo 4 runs (with Blind you wimps) look positively easy by comparison...

On the upside though when you're desperate and need to make a shot but only have like 20% chance and you hit it's so sweet.

Not exactly my cup of tea, but from what I hear it's really good. Maybe I'll try it eventually, but if it intrigues you then do it OP. I hear it has that kind of 'satisfying difficulty' that Demon's/Dark Souls had, though, so be mindful of that. [Edited on 11.21.2012 10:54 PM PST]

Not really a huge difference.

[/quote] The Firaxis team that did Civ Rev made XCOM. The stuff they did there was like practice for this which is even better.
